The 22-year-old burst onto the scene in 2020, scoring four tries on debut. He increased that tally to 23 tries from 38 appearances across three seasons, including a try in the Panthers’ grand final win over the Eels.

Staines became somewhat of a cult figure at the foot of the mountains after crossing for six tries in his first two NRL games, earning the nickname the ā€˜Forbes Ferrari’.

Staines says he’s looking forward to a new start under coach Tim Sheens.

ā€œThe club has a new coaching staff, incredible facilities, some great new signings, and a strong junior nursery, so I’m really excited to be a part this club.ā€
Sheens says Staines is a player he looks forward to working with.
ā€œCharlie has shown what he is capable of,ā€ said Sheens.
ā€œLike most of our squad, he’s young and still learning.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe says Staines is a welcome addition.
ā€œWe are delighted to have Charlie join the Wests Tigers," said Pascoe.

ā€œI would also like to thank Tyrone for his efforts.
Where were his efforts, i'd love to know, as all I saw from Peachy was total opposite....was lazy and uncommitted.

A 1 year contract, thanks interesting???

@InBenjiWeTrust

I think we need to play the game smarter. I think Staines for 1 year is smart. These guys need to prove themselves to earn upgraded contracts. The problem is if they do perform we'll have to pay up because they can start negotiating straight away.

Staines is a good signing because he is probably our best outside back. He is probably also one of the highest paid.
