Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Did I just read someone say Dom Young is shit? He’s young and already tearing up NRL in a side as bad as us, he’s already ahead of nofa imo and Ken makes good metres and looked injured all year and if it’s true we are shopping him around it’s a bit disappointing, having a wing combo of Ken and Dom would be a huge help for our forwards both averaging around 120+ metres.

We need to improve the squad and Sheens knows how to build a competitive squad.

There are many others, including me, also wanting Brooks to stay at WT in the halves for at least 2023. Firstly, regardless of the club's lack of success, having watched him and our other signed alternatives over the past two seasons, he remains our best halves option for mine.

Secondly, he is both NRL standard and a club junior, which for me is the basis of my support for the club, which when later joining with another in Wests, subsequently kept it. So same goes for Nofoaluma and Doueihi, even if to a slightly lesser extent Doueihi, as he didn't start his career at WT, and others that came over as schoolboys.

I understand that most others don't have the same connection as those that either played in one of the local junior competitions, volunteered or had friends or family that did as part of the league community. As such, I am always for prioritising the keeping of juniors still at NRL level, at or close to market rate.
Brooks should stay for 2023
2024 good luck to him hope he gets a good deal if he does choose Newcastle
As for others AD should play centre or leave
Hastings happy to keep if he wants to play 13

As much as I like Jacko playing 13, I don’t think he is suited in that position to cop the hammering from the big lads
I think in the halves it gives him more time to organise the team rather than just ball playing.
I’d keep him and Brooks there.
AD is a strong and powerful runner but he needs fit into the team instead of kicking stones because he isn’t getting in the halves.
Some of his cut out passes lead to intercepts and most times his defence in the middle is questionable. Benji never ever gave up on a play, either in attack or defence. AD stops when the ball is not in his zone.

Dom Young is good - however it’ll be a dog fight for him and don’t think wingers right now is something we desperately need or should overpay for

Think we should prioritise what’s going on with our spine for the next 12 months, then we can look at polishing up our backline giving our young kids like Asu Kepoua, Naden, Talau, To’a another season to showcase what they can do and working around that - that’s ignoring both Nofa and Ken who are premium wingers

Just my thoughts

All of them players you listed are centres bar Talau.

yeah other clubs have production lines of kids that can play wing on almost minimum salary. Look at sualii. hes a fullback or 5/8 and got a year on the wing, plus another (or maybe centre). same at penrith (less To'o) they have a couple step u this year.

with pretty much all centres/fullbacks and wingers competing for first grade spots on the wing - its a great way to save cash and pay overs for key positions.

Dom Young appears to be a special player - big, very fast and a game breaker. For that reason, I'd be bidding hard for him as he has the x factor we lack.
