Gildart gone - how good! Getting rid of Maguires mundane shit. The more I think about it, the happier I am he is gone.

Both of those excellent tackles were achievable due to his superior speed, thus proving the other guys point.

I think it shows both speed and tackling ability. Not much point getting there if you can't make the tackle

Gildardt if you release a player who has a 2 year contract 2022/2023 don't you have to pay him out unless he asks for release or lands a new contract of equal or higher value ?

Matamua turned 19 this year and played a bit of first grade.

Feledy turns 19 in 2023, so maybe he’ll be the same?

If not, he’ll debut in 2024.

Do you remember was Chris Lawrence 17 or 18 when he started in first grade?

He was 17 when he made his debut and turned 18 later that year.

Feledy would be one year older if he debuted in 2023.

Do you know why the reserves are magpies. Its because wests tigers was setup as a joint venture between 2 foundation clubs, It was not a merger as some on here seem to think. One of the stipulations of the joint venture was that both foundation clubs would keep a presence in the next tier down from NRL in order to keep their heritage and to avoid either club dying off and they would also keep and fund their own juniors. Balmain also had a presence in the NSW cup as Balmain Ryde Eastwood until they went belly up.

Where’s the Balmain reserve grade side then?

They went broke and could no longer field a side. The only reason Balmain juniors still exist is because Wests Ashfield prop them up. Had they been financial they would still have had the option to field a team in NSWcup.

Not sure.

He’ll definitely train with first grade in the pre-season and like I said, I’d be surprised if he’s not one of our Development players.

He’ll get every chance to impress the coaching staff.

Not every kid is ready that young though, so we’ll see.

Granted a release by the Tigers, Gildart will begin negotiations immediately with the Dolphins with a view to inking a $100,000 deal to be part of history at the NRL’s 17th franchise.

If he is inking in a 100,000 deal with the Dolphins we are obviously topping that figure up. No one plays for 100g. Anyway vacant roster spots are like gold for us in the big rebuild

Imagine the feeling of disengagement when Wests Tigers sign a promising junior and he is shipped off to play with Western Suburbs Magpies? Or Balmain?
I could be wrong, but I’m convinced a pathway, or any succession plan, would become more established if it were seamless.

Imagine if he signed with Melbourne - he be sent to Qld 🙄

Another player released today in Gildart and a big congrats to the club..
IMO every player we have let go or not resigned has been the correct one and just amazed how we offloaded Peachey, Musgrove and Gildart all in a space of 2 weeks.. Its like Xmas as come early.

Something is clearly brewing and the club is 100% heading in the right direction IMO. We seem to be talking to the right players and we have to have some locked in already otherwise the club would not be just releasing players like this.
If we could snag Klemmer & Bateman we are a real chance of making the top 8 next year. I hope we extend Hastings and I have no problem with the club trying to bring Moses back as that would be the icing on the cake.
