Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I expect that tomorrow will bring an update from those 'in the know'.

Until then, none of our 'inside sources' have indicated that Mitchell Moses was being targeted & have in fact said that Hastings is likely to be re-signed.

I believe by the end of the week we might have a SLIGHTLY better idea of the direction the club is heading.

I am moderately excited about Mitch Moses. I'm moderately concerned at the term 'monster deal'. But I also believe that IS what it would take to lure him back.

Nathan Brown news has been floating for a while- I wouldn't be surprised if he is actually returning.

Moses has organised the eels for years, leading them to prelims and a GF this year. Can't be too bad at it. Definitely superior to anyone we have, laughable to think he needs someone like Hastings in order to bring out his best. He's been the sole organiser for long time time now. Gutho, Brown and Mahoney haven't done much there
I think gutho has a huge role at Parra and is more important than Moses. I see Moses making individual plays and being quite dynamic. I also think he takes a lot of wrong options and overplays at times, so I don't think he's a very good organiser in the way that Reynolds, Townsend, Widdop, Cleary, Cronk were able to.

I think Hastings is better at organising and anticipating than Moses. You can point to his participation in a gf and say 'he is a great organising halfback' but I don't think that's proof of that.

Both a step backwards for the club, but given weve signed NOTHING so far were probably getting a little desperate
Brown totally cooked..we have better young blokes coming thru at a fraction of his price,,,wld be a damning error to sign him.13 is where we play either Offa or the future.Brown adds nothing
Woods is a big body which we now desperately need & cld work for an el cheapo 1 year contract to fill a hole until the cavalry arrives in 2024,but no fan of the person .Dont think he has many options tbh
Im expecting much more than these two on a very steep downhill slope!!

Moses is a doer in a good - Well drilled team.

If we're buying him on the basis that he'll lead us, and organise us....
We're barking up the wrong tree and might be in for disappointment.

That said, Jeez it would be good to follow a side that all knew their jobs, Were competent and didn't need someone to hold their hand for 80 minutes a week.

Doing an alright job with a team of plumbers and cup players.

If Dylan brown goes to dolphins then Moses will stay at Parramatta no way they let both halves go
Dylan Brown won’t go to Dolphins. Given the state of their roster going forward even we are a better attraction then they are despite winning a spoon. I do agree with you that they won’t lose both halves as if they lose one they’ll have to pay more to keep the other, but Brown won’t head to Dolphins.

Got a gut feeling that Nathan Brown will return. I’m actually ok with him coming back, as long as we don’t overpay.

Shute Shield f/b page reporting that "another young up and coming player movers to League !! 2022 Randwick captain Ben Houston has signed with the Wests Tigers for 2023 season. This guy is a gun player who made the most tackles in the entire comp in 2022 ! Not just a great player but a leader.

Ben Houston – Randwick

The Wicks leader who is seemingly maturing in his role as the season progresses, Houston has been inspirational in his defensive work rate in 2022.

With 211 tackles at a success rate of 81.8% over the first fifteen rounds, Houston ranks second in the Charter Hall Shute Shield behind Easts utility Charles Elton for all key defensive statistics.

Houston’s defensive abilities have played a pivotal role in Randwick’s nail-biting victories over the Wildfires, Easts and West Harbour, while his ability to emerge in critical offensive passages has seen the backrower also notch 5 tries across the season.

Houston is steadily cementing himself as one of the form breakaways in the Shute Shield. His leadership and skill will become of paramount importance to a Wicks outfit still yet to finalise a position in the 2022 Finals series with two rounds to play.

If he's being signed to play the right role, absolutely. The club needs an attitude adjustment. We can't develop a generation of forwards that don't know how to stand up for themselves. But if he is signed for something beyond 12 months- I think you run the risk of overpaying & over committing.

I could live with 2 years from Brown. But anything more than that its not worth it. As you said we need an attitude adjustment and our players to stand up for themselves,he and Klemmer would help big time in that area.
