Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Not 100% sure but i think we have 27 players now in our 2023 squad (after latest release of Gildart). Anyone have an accurate current list - there’s a few of the younger guys whose deals confuse me.

This the same Will Smith that played for the Eels and wanted to shirtfront and push everyone who tackled him? Kinda like Cody Walker everytime he gets tackled or someone gobs off at him...
Yes but what you mentioned I think is a Parramatta thing with the way they are coached would be great playing 5/8 in reserve grade or a 15 Spell in first grade if there is no Nu Brown played over 50 first grade games plays hooker halfs and fullback has played wing and centre mid game because of injuries what more could you want from a fringe player on the super cheap contract

Yes, and Peachy had the odd MOM performance at the Gold Coast and same at Penrith before he came to us and like many didn't perform
At the time I thought Peachy would be a good signing and was disappointed
Re Will Smith we have to stop signing those who can't get a contract
I think Peachy will have a cracking season at Penrith next year he looked totally lost at the Tiger's

Have no issue with either being used as a last resort but if they are regulars our recruiting & retention hasn’t been great - unless they have a break out year.
After round 13 he can play unlimited first grade games on a reserve grade contract I think that's right will be very handy

what makes you think Saukuru will be upgraded? from what I've seen he's on a 2 year development deal.

Would be surprised if Saukuru got upgraded. Missed more then half the year then played minimal minutes off the bench in Flegg. Unsure how true but I heard that some at the club werent overly impressed with his efforts at training

Yeah, was coming off a major injury when he played Flegg in the back half of this year but definitely didn’t look near first-grade ready.
wouldn't surprise me if he's being given a top 30 contract to keep the family happy. Solomone and Livai in the junior ranks who are better prospects imo.

If your playing by the rules, getting your roster balanced and compliant is a real art. You need 17 NRL standard players, than you need a balance of up and comers, journey men, minimum wage players and the odd punt. I don't think even the Chooks can squeeze 30 nrl standard players into the roster. Players like Will Smith every club needs, they can do a job and play multiple positions.

Anyway as Elma Fudd said, its now duck season, so lets see what happens

Not convinced 5,6,16,17,18 & 25 are Ist grade standard and how 23 &26 will go after such a long serious injury recovery . Whatever we need one spot to Jimmy Ngutlik and 2 really top class signings in this apparently magic November

I agree why is it so many were ok come to tigertown and not ok anymore ?
Peachey is a player that will respond positively in a team that requires him to play well to hold his position. He drops to the standard to the squad he plays with. He was no value to the Titans or us but if he wants to play FG at Penrith he will need to lift his game to meet their standards.

Any good?
Apparently talented, but this year was pretty much a write-off for him, was coming off the back of major shoulder (I think) surgery and played mainly off the bench in Flegg when he came back.

Realistically shouldn’t be in the Top 30 this season, but I’d heard a spot was guaranteed to him as part of his Development contract he signed a year ago.
