Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

An update on Scolari for you. Spoke to his mum today. He's starting pre season training with the NSW Cup boys on Monday. He actually re-injured his knee a few months back, he came back in for a check-up with our medical team and the physio had him doing some jumping and he re-injured the same knee...

So the club is now going to ease him into preseason. Rather then training with the NRL squad (which is super intense and competitive at this time of the year) they're going to give him to Lambkin who rates him highly to ease him back to fitness. And then re-assess things as he progresses and look to bring him back in with the NRL boys during the season.
Wonder if we will be provided with a list of all the NSW Cup players not on train and trial (assuming only a handful...maybe they also pre season train with the Flegg team?) Sounds like a smart option regarding Scolari.

Again, if Hastings is not seen as a 7 by Sheens then he will not be playing 7 in 2023 but 13, hence he may want to change clubs.
You ask any champion footballer about moving from the halves to lock .....Parra tried it with Brett Kenny ...Brisbane tried it with Wally Lewis ......the extra workload as you get older on smaller footballers is so tough ...and locks now have to work so much harder in defence and are expected to make 35 + tackles a game ...your just shortening your career ...and shortening your potential pay day ...and lessening your yearly pay check ...GM says " hey mate you aren't a half anymore ...your a backrower ..and then you missed 6 games through collision type injuries ...we are reducing your pay check by 20% " .....

I am not sure whether anyone else has commented on this yet, but in the club update did i see that Logan Dillon is back in the mix? Was disappointed when he wasn't supported last year. Hopefully this is a good sign that he will be "coached" and possibly improve his deficiencies.

I don't blame Hastings if he wants to play 7 and we are only willing to play him at 13 regardless of whether we get Bateman or not

Sorry BB don't want to hijack your post ...but this is the exact thing I guess just drives me to despair with this club ...so we don't go get scans on Scolari ....just get him to do some exercises and he reinjures his knee ......

Reminds me of the Sharks game at Browne Park in Rocky .....Douehi has a possible/probable ruptured ACL ...hobbles all the way down to the Fox team to do a post match interview and then hobbles all the way back to the dressing rooms probably a round hobble of 150 metres ...where is our medical team ..... if they want him to still do the interview organizing the golf cart to at least take him down and back ....or even smarter ..get someone fit to do it ..Brooks from memory had the C beside his name that day ..again apologies Balmain Boy ..thank you for the update
Brooks is a mute though. Never spoken in his life

Wasn't mentioned in the club update and pretty sure we have moved on.

"Sheens pointed out the club not once fielded a full-strength side last year, which included the trials."

Yeah that's a little bit of perspective. Makes it hard to get combos going.

"They lost nine games by 10 points or less, he said, which included eight games by eight points or fewer. Tommy Talau and Shawn Blore did not feature at all because of injury."

Even more perspective. Fingers crossed for far less injuries next season.

dolphins need a 7 as do Newcastle and dogs, think Hastings will get snapped up and if we get Bateman then move Hastings on 2023
Douhie, not sure think he is a centre really not a 6
Not sure about Dolphins needing a 7. SOS is handy enough in the short term and they wouldn't want to be giving any lengthy contracts given they have Katoa awaiting his opportunity.

I just wonder if Sheens will get the same latitude that he gave his predecessor with the exact same circumstances .....oh ..keep forgetting Tim has reasons ...not excuses .....

Sheens in winning our grand final, did it with a new style of football, which changed the game, as many wrote about at that time.-- We were rank outsiders that year.
The great Jack Gibson said something to the effect, THAT IT ALL STARTS AT THE FRONT OFF OFFICE.
Basically , the people who run the football department admin are duds.
Took him 5 years to find the answers ......lot of other coaches found the answers a lot quicker Dessie ...Bellamy ...Unca Wayne .....

I know what you say is true but unless a player stipulates in his contract he plays in X position only he is at the mercy of the coach. Clubs may tell players they they can play X position to get them to sign but it means diddly squat. No club will sign a player who wants it in his contract that he is only to play X position.

Except maybe the rorters.

No it's not Newcastle that is the problem for us, it's Klemmer looking elsewhere. Adding Hastings or Brooks into the mix doesn't change anything
Can you enlighten us on where you got this intel about Klemmer? It doesn't surprise me but I haven't come across it in the media.
