Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Klemmer / Hastings swap doing the rounds now on social media.

Says a lot if the club is making that move.

Leads me to believe the powers that be must truly not like him that much....

It's whatever though.

We lose him and keep Brooks, we are the real losers in that situation.
Brooks must of agree to extend otherwise we are mad letting Hastings walk and the possibility Brooks leave after next year anyway. Anyway I will trust the process (no choice really 🤣 )
My Gut feeling is Sheen's has something lined up and might surprise us all

Seems like Sheensy is of this same (incredibly stupid) belief.

I truly wonder what game Sheens and the rest of the idiot clan have been watching to justify the Brooks love.

Then again, Sheens also brought in Anasta, carried two backs on the bench and persisted with John Morris in the halves. So on the other hand, we shouldn't be too surprised by this idiotic decision.

I just want to say , that it’s funny how some people can’t see the forest from the trees. Basically brooks has been sought after by other clubs for years , and in the case of Newcastle they were willing to offer him well over a mil to get the deal done .
It’s now looking far more likely he stays and good . Hastings is not an elite half . He’s just someone half decent who isn’t brooks.
If you think brooks is shit . Youre wrong ! Sorry the stats and eye test don’t validate that , and neither does the market .
And his market value has dropped dramatically in recent years yet he still commands a premium .
Queue all kinds of mental gymnastics , about brooks lovers …..

I
Always got to sell yourself, even Biden thinks he's a president dopy Joe
I’ve just been mentally listing ADs
features and benefits, and in comparison to his other hi profile teammates, and trying to relate it through money.
All I’ve got now is a splitting headache !

On a positive note with England been knocked out today we might hear if Bateman is actually coming or not sooner ..

I like this if all comes true
6 AD
7 Brooks (not a fan in 7 but its what it is)
8 Klemmer
9 Api
11 Papa
12 Batman
13 N Brown

Massive improvement over this year

The same game that watched us get 40 put on through Hastings corridor multiple weeks in a row , the same that watched him constantly step back into the ruck because he couldn’t get on the outside of his man . The same game that watched him get torched on the outside multiple times before his injury .
AD was the same . It was like watching as hitter defensive halves pairing of Gillett and duckworth . With less attacking skill . Somehow . And I rated Ben duckworth .

Doueihi set to manage himself

Wests Tigers playmaker Adam Doueihi is taking over his own management and has placed a hefty price tag on his services.

Doueihi has been selling himself as a No.7 or No.6 to a rival club and is after a three-year deal worth at least $900,000 a season. I’ve been told by those with knowledge of the situation he wants a minimum of $850,000 for the first season, with his price going up in future years.

With a dearth of quality No.7s in the competition, it’s a good tactic, but it remains to be seen if a club will go for that price. He is a quality player, but has had knee issues in the past. Even with healthy legs, he is going to need a breakout season to reach that level of income.

There are about half-a-dozen $1 million halves in the NRL, headed by Nathan Cleary, Cameron Munster and Daly Cherry-Evans, but Doueihi is not in that class.

The Tigers’ roster is better than it has been and if he can cash in on good service from the likes of Api Koroisau, Jackson Hastings and maybe Luke Brooks he may mount a case for an upgrade.

This comes across like a guy selling his house, not liking the price agents tell him he can get and then deciding to sell it himself.

AD will not get another contract at WT's, or anywhere else, on his current overpriced contract.
They don't want him! Hasting s is a clever player, but too slow for a top line 6 or 7. and doubt he will handle lock, and we have juniors ready for 13 in 2024. -- Goodbuy Hastings. Brooks has to improve to stay, with a decent 5/8 , Api around the ruck, a decent forward pack it's a long shot, but it may happen. Smith could be a smokey in the halves, till we find a decent player.

I don't normally get involved in all this Brooks drama but something that stands out to me is the fact that Benji wants him here and extended.. IF anyone knows Brooks its him considering he has played with him and knows his value. People need to ask themselves if Brooks was in a team with a decent forward pack E.g. Rooster , Storm etc he would excel and a lot of great judges know this otherwise clubs would not be chasing him.
IMO he is not a 7 and is a 6 as he is not a vocal leader most most 7's. You add Moses in the 7 and I think they would gel well with the forwards we are putting together.

Based on what ? This decision, if it happens, is just one part of the future plan. And the other parts of bis plan may more then compensate.
A Long way to go before you can start shouting Sack Sheens.
The thing that makes me angry with this club,is we keep reaching back in the past glory days of the old boys club and favourites...
Sheens has been out of NRL coaching for over 10 years..
Benji spat the dummy and left, but came back living off his glory days..
Farah was basically forced out the door, but always thought he was the WTs...

As for Brooks he has had plenty of chances, his speed and defense are great but cant lead as a halfback should...
Why cant this club have the balls to thank the past heros for what they done, but start looking at fresh younger people not tied to the club to do a job as they are expected to do,whether its coaching and staff.Admin or players...
Api and Paps are Madges buys,Sheens has nothing to do with that recruitment...he better start looking for decent players signed and sealed for preseason so the hard work starts early...
I hope the old boys club really get results this year, because this forum will have a meltdown if we cant win more games than we did last season....
THE BALL IS in their redzone....

If you were Brooks' and willing to take a pay cut to remain a one club player, one of the issues I would like addressed is the forward pack. The addition of Papali'i', Koroisau, possibly Klemmer and Bateman plus more zip in Staines is a demonstration of the club's desire to improve. That's a pretty remarkable turn around in forward strength (in an extremely tough market with Redcliffe and cap increase).

He only claims a premium from the idiots at our club.
Only one club has ever said they were interested in him ...and not at a premium price.
You're dreaming if you think Newcastle will be paying him a million a year.
I said weeks ago I wouldn't be surprised if this was all a smokescreen and they really wanted Hastings.
Seriously ... what use would a half who can't organise a team be to help Ponga in his move to five eighth?
Hastings on the other hand would be great for him.

100% this would be a must for me if I was Brooks.
No halfback can perform behind a poor pack even the greats.

He should have got Anasta to be his manager. Old mate could make a mil
