The problem with Madge. He was set in his ways and couldn't change with the game. Made come across as a nice bloke but the fact is the squad and results went backwards under him. The senior players are a fault too.

I watched Hastings do exactly the same thing every set . and half the nrl , but it’s definitely a brooks weakness .
What is leadership ? Yelling at your teammates ? Is it also not chasing down the line break from the opposite side of the field . Is it not crunching a rampaging back tower because your help defence is picking daisies inside ? Is it not chasing down other peoples breaks , and being there to support ? If it’s being a d and alienating your teammates on the reg . Then ok . Bear in mind the current Aus halfback / backup can’t win a chook raffle without his fullback . So his leadership sux as well I guess .
The cutout ball doesn’t work in 2022 . The looping ball over the top to an edge attack running onto it , seems to have the most effect .
The short ball is truely an issue . I’m not debating that . But I’d say it’s also one of the only attacking weapons we had last year as well .

But it doesn’t matter what I think . It only matters what the nrl as a collective think and they think he’s a 1 mil halfback .

One issue that greatly changes the player recruitment/retention landscape is this proposed cap increase. It explains a few things, like the way the Dogs have approached the market and the asking prices of some players. It will enable clubs to hang on to players that they couldn’t have afforded previously eg Moses and Brown, or it will assist other clubs to enter the market for elite players increasing competition.
All of a sudden the market opens up and teams like the Roosters for example become options for guys like Moses.
Either way the cap increase is probably not a good result for us.

With Brooks, correlation doesn't equal causation. I don't think he's been the issue with our squad. He aligns with the Tiger infusion that Sheens and benji are forming and could be a big lure to bring mitch Moses back. Especially tempting with those prices that doueigh might be pushing....

Hastings is surplus to the squad if we can get Bateman at a good price. It's always better for team harmony to have a 13 who wants to be a 13 and is a better teacher for the kids coming through.

If we can snare Bateman and Klemmer, but lose Hastings. Our team will have a pretty good balance. We've already got Laurie to slot into 6 if one goes down (stains to FB) and will smith if warranted

Yes why dont you listen to us here on the forum....we have endured his football skills for 10 years,supported him,paid our membership and now its time to get over him ...
You have been here from TODAY....where have you been to defend him in the last 10 years..
Living in his mums basement no doubt...

You can have all the pedigree you want but the fact remains that he has not achieved any sort of success in over 10 years in RL, was sacked from this club and another with poor roster decisions being one of the many reason at BOTH clubs.

So lets not pretend that Sheens is some master administrator or coach these days. I respect what he has done for both Canberra and us but you can't keep living in the past.

Since I've been following the club there's only been two periods of time where the squad resembled are group that gave one ounce of care the 2005 crew and 2010 crew to this day the players still reference the bond they had at that time.

Sadly that been missing the past ten years.

None of you are being real !! You’re in a vacuum consumed by your own negative thoughts .
Being real is accepting there’s a shortage of nrl halves . There’s no brett kimmorley waiting around in Newcastle reserve grade in 2022.
Brooks has speed and skill , and a good not great long kicking game , and a good short passing game . He can create for his outside men with his speed .
He definitely lacks confidence and game management at times and goes into his shell .
That’s reality . The whole reality . The nrl whether it’s tigers , knights , cowboys, warriors raiders etc have decided the negatives are far outweighed by the positives . That’s the reality . Kick and scream all you want . None of you live in reality . You can repeat yourselves over and over and over again on these threads it’s not going to change it . It’s embarrassing to read constantly to be honest .

There's two sides to the coin eh.

It makes sense... and doesn't at the same time.
I guess it depends on the results once it's all said and done.

Hastings - he was good this year but clearly the brains trust don't see a future for him with us with the plans moving forward.

Brooks - hasn't been good any years (except arguably 2018 or whenever his Dally M Half-back year was) but the brains trust see value in him (like many before them.)

I guess we gotta strap in and see how this plays out.

Lol I think you’ll find this isn’t my fist day on the forum mate . Despite what the login says .
I have defended him the last 10 years . Well since 2016 I think . Then I deleted my account . I had a fair bit of cred too . But despite all that . My opinion is just as valid as anyone’s even if it was my first day . Which it isn’t .
It’s a bit sad to be gate keeping that to be honest .
