Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

All conjecture. Brooks shot it down
several times himself. Knights needed
A half badly. They did all they could.
Good luck with Hastings & Gamble
We got their biggest meter eater.
O'Brien will be first coach sacked
C'mon you can't possibly think that Brooks had no interest in going to Newcastle not only next year but also this season. AOB even stated that they thought they had him. Sheens could have also blocked Hastings if he wanted to keep him but he didn't. Pretty much says it all.

I actually think Brooks compliments the Knights better than Hastings especially with Ponga in the halves. Brooks personality is a follow orders style who would mould into the team which in their team dynamics & personalities forming could be important.

Hastings is a controlling half but not a creative one. 63 NRL games, 3 tries & 22 try assists just wouldn't work in the Sheens/Benji game play. That's why it was lock or nothing for him here.

It wouldn't surprise me if O'Brien, Gamble, Elliot, Hetherington, Hastings and few others clash during the year. It's big reason Klemmer is leaving is the team/coach dynamics. Knights have some hot heads who aren't afraid to clash with team mates so the dynamics could be very interesting.
So why would they target Hastings?
Doesn't add up

Weren’t some on here suggesting that Brooks has signed for the Knights for 2024 and this was going to be his leverage to demand an early release?

The Pom stated Brooks manager had contacted the club and told them he was signing at Newcastle for 24 onward post November 1st.

It sounds like Sheens is pushing real hard to retain Brooks and he is happy to let Hastings go.

Maybe Brooks was entertaining it TT.
The part in bold certainly says it all though

2023 forward pack,

8 David Klemmer
9 Api Korosau
10 Stefano Utoikamanu
11 Isaiha Papali'i
12 Shawn Blore
13 John Bateman

14 Alex Twal
15 Joe Offahengauie
16 Fonua Pole
17 Tommy Talau

That's something to get excited about...

If Brooks can't fire behind that, what excuse do you think the Brooks cult will come up with?

Ink said recently they've done nothing yet and I agree. Hopefully the pack looks better but we have to wait and see what happens.

Just quietly I thought Packer would be a good signing.
We've had lots of good signings that played well before they got here but we somehow drag them down to WTs level.
I too have thought many would be good... Maybe just hope these days I have little to no confidence left

Coach Sheens has history with Klemmer:

Perfect coach for him to get himself
reinvigorated and fired up again.
Not just his carrying but his offloads
and fiery personality, its big for us.
Desperately needed some1 that
can catch teams napping 2nd phase play

Post-partum depression.

He's troubled with his new role of fatherhood and its effecting his ability to game manage.

He can't execute due to the lack of decent outside backs.

There'll be something.
