Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

it will be one of Williams and Moses, not both. the two of them are both genuine halfbacks and would stifle one another. need variety in your halves pairing.

Brooks and Moses would be pretty good to be fair. we were wrong to blood them both around the same time and it was probably Brooks that needed to be in reggies longer, but that’s over now. the two of them would be dynamite together from the years they spent at Holy Cross and the early years at the tigers and then reuniting.
Moses behind our pack, it is better than the parramatta pack of 2022, he will kill it.
At 6 Brooks is a better option or at least equal to Dylan Brown
They will prove a very formidable partnership in 2024 Moses 7 Brooks 6

Will only come to play fullback.....
He is a good player, but i think the Tigers are intent on getting the halves settled first. - Top priority. Their are hundreds of fast and talented kid playing NRL, and we have a few of them. Each year the comp has a new bunch of young superstars. It's better to wait and see what eventuates , so as not to blow out our salary cap for 2024.

Balmain, Wests and the merger have a pretty good track record with English signings. Ellery, Garry Schofield, Andy Courier, Dave Bolton, Gareth Ellis, Lee Crooks, Brian Lockwood.
I reckon Bateman could be another and even better if Williams were to make the move as well.

Balmain particularly got great value from their English players. Who could forget the Lockwood / Pringle combination. Wests didn't do as well. Lee Crooks was probably their best, excluding Ellery who Balmain had first. I was a Wests fan BTW.

I was a Balmain fan so wasn’t thrilled when Hanley and Schofield had a run at Wests. Both great players. Schofield was so pale white he was almost blue. I remember a cracking intercept he took at Leichhardt one Sunday arvo against Parra. Mick Cronin was about to put his winger away with a draw and short pass and next thing you see is Schofield haring off downfield and scoring. It took everyone a while to work out what had happened. Like a thief in the night. Perfectly read and timed.
Lee Crooks was your old school typical Pommy prop forward. Looked like he lived on pies and pints but tough and skillful.

With salary cap increase top tier players will all be asking for 1 mil or more ,. DCE signed years ago for over a mil. It's a fact of life today, Williams is not top tier, Moses is.
1.4m in a proposed 12m cap is about 11-12% of your cap. A little overs but it checks out that your number 1 marquee player can take up at least 10% of your cap.

In that case I'd offer $1.5m and add a year. We're not going to sign the top guys unless we're the top bidder.
I reckon lay low for now, keep rumours in house, while still negotiating, keep clearing the decks, free up more room, accumulate the salaries. Once we’re comfortable then WT can make genuine offers to the players they believe need to fill a gap and be more approachable.
