Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

AD,was hopless at FB, Laurie is untried in the halves, and Brooks will have either Moses or Wlliams as his partner

You obviously didn't watch AD at Souths then & it's clear he isn't viewed long term halves option.
AD can win us games so why not try something different (Honestly think Centre he could nail but it's clear that's not his thought process)

Laurie played halves most of his juniors & was very good, 5/8th is his best position.
Neither Moses or Williams will be here in 23.

No. The halves we have is what we got. Stains to fullback. Laurie to 5/8th. Douhie centre.

If we could jag Moses or Williams for 24 personal preference being Williams. We would have the freedom to toy around with the halves for 23 Doueihi Laurie each having their chance. Would also allow us to try out combinations for FB.
In any event I can’t see us with a new half next year so it might be through necessity anyway. But fingers crossed Shifty and Benji can keep the momentum of this rebuild going.

David Riccio said he is “more than confident” that English star John Bateman will play for the Wests Tigers in 2023.

Bateman has prior experience in the NRL with the Canberra Raiders during their Grand Final season in 2019 but fell out of favour with coach Ricky Stuart and returned to the Super League ahead of last season.

The 29-year-old is reportedly keen to return to the NRL and the Tigers have all but completed the transfer according to Riccio.

“I’m more than confident,” Riccio said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“I’ve been speaking to the right people as far as the Tigers are concerned.

“There’s no pen to paper at this point of time from Bateman.

“Bateman has indicated to all his closest contacts over in the UK that he is headed to Australia.

“The Tigers are just dotting the ‘I’s and crossing the ‘T’s.

“The Tigers have no issue in paying the $250,000 mark (for the Bateman transfer).

“I’m more than confident that Bateman will be at the Tigers.”

Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis said he would not confirm if the club had confirmed a deal with Bateman.

“I did see quoted in the paper yesterday that Tim (Sheens) saying that the discussions are continuing,” Hagipantelis said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“Our policy is not to discuss publicly the recruitment or retention decisions (of the club).” (DT)
