The left sadly abandoned the worker, unionist, the average guy years ago.Sadly many here comment on the things they don‘t understand, so they just repeat the latest Pravda’s (read their ABC/Guardian/SMH) or twitter’s proclamations.
However, I believe there is a minority that really understand their own positions, as issues are complex and hard to simply put it in a broad baskets.
For instance how could the left position be abortion, AGW, LGBTQ, anti-nuclear, anti-water transfer, pro coerced vaccination, anti mining, these have nothing to do with social pro workers, and are often against pro workers interest!
That is why, perhaps 95%, are confused and classify themselves as progressive left while in reality they argue against the workers rights and working conditions!
The pursuit of globalization, high rates of immigration, foreign ownership and a high terminal rate of unemployment gives the worker little hope of real empowerment or franchise in the land where they live.
They prefer to be their patrons rather than giving them any real hope while they promote agenda which is contra to their interest.
They prefer ideology to real results.
For the record I voted ALP last election and have done so occaisonly.
