Boxers are a bad example mate, you want to see my head 🤣
I agree with head gear doing little as it won't stop the brain impacting inside the cavity.
It's a unique sport where sudden impact to to head often occurs.
Players are trained on how to avoid head injuries but it still happens.
Just interested in why do you think indemnity forms wouldn't hold up. If they have done a course on prevention, why not?

it was very interesting listening to Robert Craddock on the Back Page when they did the story about Mario Fenech

How many ex NRL players are on the "can't interview " list ...because of all the memory issues and the like

I think the game is on the very small tip of an extremely large iceberg .....
Yeah bro but people have been getting dementia since Jesus was a boy.
My neighbour died from dementia at 70 in August uleh.

The reason i say this is because Mario gets it and plays rugby everyones like 'ohhhh mario got [This word has been automatically removed]ed in the head by the game' but what if Mario just got it like other middle aged people get it.

He was fine ten years ago. Why did the dementia wait? but Shaun Valentine got issues straight away.

Need to do actual controlled scientific tests rugby v non rugby to determine the difference, if any.
We know CTE is real but how real? and maybe dementia in rugby is a complete myth.

Lets not jump the gun.

Indemnity forms won't do much legally and headgears dont reduce severity or frequency of head knocks.

I think more studies need to be done on training to avoid concussions.. boxers for eg spend a lot of time on dodging contacts and having the awareness to get their head away from situations. Same way I think Rugby League players could use training like that, especially with their tackling technique.

Cameron Smith made a living out of catching and wrestling rather than tacking head on. That's where it should move to.
If we end up with 17 cameron smith clones on the field then the game is well and truly stuffed.

Not jumping the gun ..when you see a bloke like Brett Horsnell before the age of 40 not able to take on a coaching role because of his issues .....another of the 86 state schoolboy side ...just scary

Myself I was concussed around 10-12 times .....it worries you

Us old war horses who've had concussions might be in for some CTE down the track.

Not looking forward to it.

Yeah one of the reasons I gave it away in the end ...had 3-4 in my last year as well as the knee ...problems still with the achilles ..and when you are trying to set up working career and missing work because of it all .... $50 a win .....doing raffles at the pub on a Friday night .....forever icing something until all hours .....and NRL dream was gone by that stage .....

That is why you have to give credit to the blokes who are 28 plus who are still battling away in NSW cup or Qld cup ....it's a hard slog while still trying to maintain a full time job and the fitness levels it takes to make it at NRL level if the chance ever comes by ....

That said ... wouldn't swap a thing

I was concussed about 10 times, 4 times losing consciousness.
Yeah its a scary situation .....do you worry about possible CTE or mental issues ??

A young bloke asked me once after a game what it is like ......how do you reply to that .....how the F would I know lol ....can't even remember the warm up before the game lol

To be honest Hap, I don’t really worry too much about it. I did find it frustrating at first because I had a very good memory once. Now if you asked me what I had for dinner last night, I’d have refer you to my wife even though I may have cooked it. But this is infrequent and I’ve learned to adjust, now that I realise what it is.
I just don’t talk about it.

Is that why you call yourself 20/40 instead of 40/20 😻..
just joshing brother.
The worst part of being concussed is not knowing what happened hey..... like one minute your on the field and all of a sudden your sitting on the sidelines and all your mates are watching the game....your thinking who, what, when, why 🤪

That's why I like Peter Valandy bring up the minimum wage for top 30 contact players but I never hear about the player association asking for a better deal for reserve grade player's is reserve grade still 500K cap ? They should raise that to 1.5/2 million before raising the top tier cap give all reserve grade player's a minimum contact of $55K they earn it

😂 I’m really 50-50 😂
The worst part about getting concussed is when you didn’t see it coming.
