So if approved another potential slap in the face to the WT.The Manly Sea Eagles have officially submitted a request to the NRL to allow former NSW Blues coach Laurie Daley to join a new-look coaching staff, according to The Sydney Morning Herald’s Adrian Proszenko.
Seibold has already begun forming his coaching staff at Manly with Shane Flanagan becoming his lead assistant, but has reportedly courted the interest of Daley who looks set to join as a halves coach.
Daley previously had the offer to join the Tigers in 2019, but when Michael Maguire submitted the request to the NRL it was rejected due to his affiliation with betting company TAB.
“Manly has recently put in an official submission to the NRL, explaining his role and what his duties and responsibilities would be, they are waiting to see if they (the NRL) will sign off on that,” Proszenko said on SEN 1170 Afternoons.
“Laurie Daley would be a huge boost to a staff that is already looking pretty impressive, obviously with the change there with Anthony Seibold as the head coach.
“Part of that brains trust, you’ve got Shane Flanagan, Jim Dymock… there’s a guy called Andrew May who just started, he worked with Parramatta over the last couple of seasons, he’s the former physical performance coach for Cricket Australia and NSW.
“If you add Laurie Daley to that mix, that’s looking as impressive as any brains trust in the NRL, whether or not it happens remains to be seen.”
SEN’s Jimmy Smith questioned why Daley is allowed to coach the NRL Indigenous All-Stars team despite fans being allowed to bet on that game.
“I’ve got absolutely no doubt that Laurie Daley would be a straight one-eighty, the issue is, do you all of a sudden have people across the betting industry that have NRL gigs, do you start to get inside info, whether that be team changes etc,” Proszenko said.
“I’m not for a second suggesting that would be the case with Laurie Daley but that’s what they have to guard against, somehow I hope that they can come to an amicable agreement.”
Daley’s imminent arrival at Manly would signal his first full-time coaching role since his five-year stint as NSW Blues coach where he won one series in 2014.
That's typical of the NRL's double standards. Then surely he can't take up a gig with Manly? Arseholes wouldn't let him come to WT because of a conflict of interest or some garbage like that.
I could handle preseason only. Even indigenous side as that’s a one off.So if approved another potential slap in the face to the WT.
I can’t see there is any difference between our 2019 request and this one. Exactly the same situation then as now.
I’m interested to monitor this story coz, if a change of heart by NRL, why ???

Yep that wouldn't surprise me at all either. The NRL love to spin anything to suit their own agenda. We see evidence of that every single week. Very shonky organisation to say the least. To be honest i will be far more amazed if the NRL knock Manly back,i can visualise an NRL statement in a few weeks "That was a decision that we realised after close examination was incorrect so we have overturned it in the interest of being a responsible and flexible organisation"
Gotta fix the conspiracies in turns starting with the 78 rort.Daley's appt blocked by the NRL. you can put the tin foil hats away for a while.
He should stop running down the Corso .....TT injured again at training.. suspected hamstring.
