Luke Brooks #167

Well I’ve watched football for 60 years (yep getting old and cranky) and appreciated good players from all teams and game changers. Brooks has not shown me he is the 7 to lead the tigers to success. Just my opinion, I want the tigers to be great, I just don’t see Brooks stepping up to drive that future.
And your entitled to your opinion mate. Watch him with better forwards, you haven’t seen much of that.

I want to see Luke and Adam build a 7 and 6 combination in 23. Both had injury issues this year and didn't click due to the Hastings experiment.

If Moses signs for 24, it'll be interesting to see who gets shuffled.

the difference in Brooks' games under Cleary and then Madge were stark. under Cleary his ability to build pressure, take the line on at the right time and throw the right pass was excellent. under Madge that died.

I have firmly believed that Brooksy should've left for his own good a long time ago, but it's clear he will be here for the long haul. for that reason it's best we back him. new coach and two assistants that played with him when he was at his best should see him have an improved season. Moses (hopefully) beside him in '24 should see him perform even better.
Last time he was playing well the form of Matalino, Packer, Matterson and Aloiai had a lot to do with it. Some of those guys mailed it in after 2018. Hopefully our forwards show up in 2023.

Say we sign him on 1.3 million and the Tigers forward pack never really gets to the level of the top sides, Api doesn’t work out and we continue to lose more than we win and run 11th or 12th. How do you think Moses game will be assessed? He’ll be the new imp.

More heartache for us fans.

Having Papali'i' and Bateman as your second row forwards would make any 6 or 7 happier.
Wish they’d get Bateman done. The importance of second rowers doesn’t get enough air time. Players like Cordner, Kenny Bromwich, Liam Martin. They are standard setters / match winners. Gareth Ellis was probably the last one we had.

No proof but I believe he is done and the club is waiting for the most opportune time to announce it. I also think one of our existing squad is done and again the club is waiting for the right time to announce it.

I doubt it because Managers don’t often allow clubs that opportunity but could be wrong.

I’d argue they have generational talent coming through in the backrow along with a damaging middle in Taumololo. You see that at Wests?
No coincidence that Payten knew what he needed to lead that young squad and went after it. The 2021 squad had most of those players and yes they had and an additional year of experience but until Townsend was recruited they were consistently inconsitent. It was obvious that he led that team with conviction and they responded. Close to the best buy of the season imo.[/QUOTE]

Moses will be, not only... HUGE for us, as a club but I think huge for Luke Brooks as well.

Both as a player & a person.
Honesty hope you're right but considering they didn't exactly set the world alight when they were both here, I'm not confident. Granted that Moses is a far better and different player now, but Brooks has shown no signs of improvement bar one season and has even regressed.

I'd rather Moses comes in 24 so we can see how AD and Brooks go in the halves together with this forward pack so we can make a more informed decision on who should partner Moses in the halves in 2024. Brooks has the forward pack his fanboys have asked for so no more excuses next season.

No doubt man.

Always thought the club, at the time, mismanaged them both and they should've played the other positions.

Moses has gone onto better things, after some time and Brooks has stagnated...

I can see it working.
Could also see AD and Moses working.

Either way the important piece is Moses, not Brooks - but the club wants Brooks and that's something we have to come to terms with 😞

I will agree that Townsend looks to be more vocal than our 7. Big challenge for brooks this year will be putting a rocket up some of the experienced guys we have coming when they need it. That’s the part of his game yet to evolve but imo we just haven’t had the cattle.

I hope he has a stellar season and absolutely agree the squad has had more weaknesses than Brooks alone.

I Whole heartedly agree. I only hope that the plan of luring Moses back with the so called draw card of playing with Brooks doesn't backfire, as you say Moses has advanced his game and Brooks has not. Personally I would be looking elsewhere for 24,not Doueihi or Brooks.

Again , what solutions, o wise ones, do you offer, please list the halves you would buy, to turn the side around. It's ok stating negatives, it"s par for the course on this forum . What would you guys do !
already told you. go back and have a read

Brooks with a simple game plan and the power we are going to have up front he will get back to that time Clearly had him going great , but this time he will be going even better
IMO , Brooks will jump up to a level not seen before under Benji and Sheens

So much to ponder, who's coming, who's going, will Brooks perform better with an improved pack ? Will AD retain his star status,? Will Laurie become a super 5/8 ? Will Stains be the Fullback we lacked ? Will the coaches turn our pack into Viking warriors? Will we finally find some talented and speedy outside backs ? Is Moses coming ? Is Bateman the invisible man?

This has been the craziest off-season ever,. PS- Will any of these players still be here , in 2024 ?
