Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Because it ties up big money for a backup. Plus you’re asking Hastings to play at lock. Sure we were entitled to do that but it’s a crappy thing to do to him when someone else will pay him more money to play where he wants.
Other than we are yet to hear who is signed as halves beyond 2023, could have 0 out of 3

Hastings played 16 games in 2022. We won 4 of them, two of them by one point in the last minute.
Back to Noggin's point though. We took 3 seasons to get rid of Madge.

Honestly that is fine, kinda.
We had a less then competitive roster and Madge's worst year was 2022. (by far). Yet he had to be cut in 2022 (Sheens, why May? Madge should have taken the heat and the blows, why put Noddy through that).

Easts/Cronulla/Dogs and many other teams would have cut Madge sooner. We recognised what he was dealt and gave him 2021...

Brooks I count 2 wins out of 17 games. Brooks is the halfback. 4/16 is a lot better then 2/17 particularly when mr "I want NR7" demands halfback.

It's not all down to Brooks, if anyone is responsible it's the entire teams defence, we just leaked too many points. The front row needed to step up and it stepped back.

Yet if the choice was Brooks vs Hastings, Luke you can head north.

Looking forward, whoever is the pommy Sheens recruits from britain can get whatever Stab at NR7 if they want that. Brooks has done nothing in 2022 to keep the spot.

Acquiring Bateman and I-Pap has given us a potent second row pairing, one of the best in the comp. My concern though, especially if Brown is still being chased, is what happens to Matamua, Kautoga and number of the other forward up-and-comers over the next 3-4 year period. Do they just sit and wait their turn? Will they wait that long?

I reckon you throw Matamua straight into lock now and concentrate on picking up a prominent back or some cover at half.

Above all that, it’s the best recruitment drive in Tigers history. Looking forward to 2023.
Is Bateman bought to play lock or second row?

We still easily have the worst backline in the comp. Not a single player is a lock, no standouts, just a bunch of average joes scrapping for a spot.
Good sides, the team picks itself.
If we do it's our training and hardening.

Naden is solid. Honestly he is the best news out of 2022.
Laurie + Naden + Staines +Nofo + Ken M OR Talau
It's actually looking good on paper.

The problem is we were so porus last year in Defence. We just gave away WAY too many points and let teams run over us. Our Forwards need to soak more momentum but our backs need to gatekeep better.

I will give Laurie and Naden kudos for actually being the best defenders we have. happy for everyone else to be dropped to Regge's when they start slacking off. We need to harden up in the Big D. Sheenus I know you can coach and instill Defence, DO IT.

The Moses talk has obviously and understandably grasped majority of our attention but please don’t let that distract you from the fact that we’ve been the most successful team in the NRL this off season in terms of recruitment

Api, Papalili, Klemmer, Bateman, Staines all confirmed for 2023 etc whilst making big plays at both Munster (drove Melb to raise there offer) and now Moses (word is Parra are restructuring their offer to make Moses happy) but still a chance he may be coming also - then also Nathan Brown is being discussed which imo would be a great signing off the bench

Plus clearing out the trash and giving us spots available to make these moves

Regardless on what happens with Moses the club have done extremely well and deserve recognition and backing from us fans towards the new coaching team to support them on their decisions even if that means letting Hastings go - still think we’re 1-2 spine signings off from being contenders but Moses would certainly help with that

Disagree.
The players were livid by the result.
Their management supported them in their stance.
Management supporting the workforce (and vice versa) IS company culture.
We can argue over roster, but imagine we field a team that wants to play for their management..? Wow there’s a novel Wests Tigers thought!
What was it that Jack said… something about winning starting in the front office..?

All due respect to your management credentials, but think I’ll go with Jack on this one 👍
You continue to confuse me. Players were livid and management supported them in their stance? So that's a good thing then, Tigers did a good thing?

Nope.
I’m saying you’re a stone kicking ‘fan’ and management is having a crack.
I'm sorry that makes no sense whatsoever.

I was speaking to you about the Tigers Cowboys game not Jackson Hastings. You've got your arguments all flip-flopped.

I see where you are going with this - but whats another million dollar player to the rorters - small change.

I think you hinting at Moses to Roosters, but that's not on the agenda.

The talk I heard was from someone who has some connections, but certainly not saying it's done. Just that if Moses leaves, Keary is an option to replace him.

I never said otherwise. The original comment was that we had a winning team under Hastings. That’s clearly not the case.
