Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Don't rate or forgotten AJ?

A lot of centre depth, albeit not enough experience. I do believe in AJ and TT coming good, both have shown glimpses.

TT's future is in the forwards IMO in though.
trie forgot AJ

Kicking games are one of the most important elements of football…Moses offers one of the best all round kicking games in the league. Also Moses is in his prime, RTS is probably past his prime.

Would be happy to have either, but Moses if I had to make the call
RTS also been out of the game for a bit. I have no doubts he would still be good but it would probably take him a season to get up to speed. I remember Val Holmes was pretty ordinary in his first season and a half back from the NFL.

We are definitely a game breaker away from being a top eight maybe even top six side. The Roosters have a surplus of them. How do we pinch one?!

We are getting lost in all the euphoria, we all agreed the halve were our biggest problem, after the forwards. The forward problem has been addressed, the halves at the moment are still up in the air. Yes i expect a better performance, with a new pack, and new coaching style, but the same problem still exists. I hope we do not extend contracts, unless on field performances warrants it !

Sheens wants to see how Brooks
& Doueihi go at half behind our
pack — they're familiar with our
systems as well. There is zero
urgency to sign a half this year,
and none are on the market worth
signing at the moment, next year
is a whole different story though ..

Indeed, based on the past couple of years, Brooks may "just scrape into the top ten halfbacks in the comp". Certainly not ideal, as we want and need his form returning to amongst the best.

WT are though trying to sign Moses, who is playing at that level and has been for few seasons. I always rated him as being slightly the better overall of the two, even if he goes missing more often and seen very much as a "flat track bully" type.

We must remember that without his current great Parramatta forward pack, Moses was copping as much criticism as Brooks is now, when the former led his team to the spoon, whilst Luke was concurrently performing at the upper level. Regardless of whether Mitchell returns, let us all watch how both perform behind decent pack in 2023.

Absolutely. Well said coach ...

Caught up over Christmas with extended family, a couple of them work in the scg trust and deal with the clubs that play out of there fairly regularly. As always passed on the juicy rumours, Roosters are working hard to keep Manu and Sualli and not so hard to keep Keary and Tedesco. Seemed fairly confident that they'll be looking to offload Keary after this season whether it's medically or to another club will be the only question to be answered there. He said the squid games thing really dropped Tedescos status with some in the club too they weren't happy with the way he handled the situation. Was certain he'll play out his contract and then move on for Sualli to step in like they did with Minichello years ago.

Nothing else came from the chat that affects us, he was mostly talking about the waratahs and how much the super rugby has lost fans etc. Gets a few beers into him and can't stop talking about how rugby ruined a good thing 😆

I heard RA are preparing to table
a 4 year $1.3-5 million offer 4 '24
to Sua'alii'i until the next world cup
cycle 2027 in Australia. Kurtley Beale
is keeping his fullback jersey warm
at the Waratahs. RA's offer blows
the roosters out of the water,
he won't have to move far from
Moore Park as well lol. Roosters
signed him knowing he has get
out clauses he can trigger for each
year of his contract as well. Right
now it's not 'if' really but 'when'.

This is the key point really now Brooks has a forward pack to play behind hopefully he can start showing glimpses of what everyone says he is capable of.
It's frustrating one one hand I'm done with the guy I figure he's had enough time. On the other I figure he has a pack now and he was loyal give him another go hopefully he will come good. I really hope he does. It's like a bad relationship.

Did we only sign Staines for one year ? If so, any idea as to why ?
Could be to help Penrith and their cap so he has an option to go back if tigers don't give him what he wants....,or tigers want depth at fullback without paying big dollars so if someone the RTS becomes avail we are able to chase him.
OR it could be a combination of all the above or none of it.
Did that answer your question? 🤣🤪

Sheens got the name shifty for a reason. Reading that article you would think the club has had a informal chat with Moses and nothing much else.

I still think the Moses things is very long odds, but when Sheens plays things down, you never know
Exactly the way I'm thinking, nothing like a signing against all odds senerio to get the the juices flowing

Can't think who it was but someone said successful sides have 17 top players and the rest are on less money.
With Staines, he's not a world beater and atm neither is Laurie so it doesn't make sense tying up Staines on good money for a longer term.
If a better player comes along we get rid of both Laurie and Staines.
I still have high hopes for Daino though.
