Just watched the final against saints the year we won the comp.Everybody in the team passed the ball as much as possible.No bloody 5 hit ups and a kick it was invigorating to watch.Can we' do something like that this year I hope so

I was in Egypt on a tour at the time of the game.
No coverage so asked my son to text the result.
There were about half a dozen Saints supporters who were giving me heaps before the game,
They were all hiding at breakfast the next day 🤣

Hoping Sheens and Benji can bring that 'Licence to Thrill" moto back to the squad. Tigers were known as the entertainers during that era. Quick, agile, ball playing talent across the entire park. Then we got Taylor ball. Yikes.

I was copping heaps from them walking into the SFS.

It was a surreal feeling in that they were so confident and so was I.

We had just moved to Adelaide in April 2005. I went back to Sydney for all the Leichhardt games. Then the Winning streak run meant I was going over more often.

The night of the Dragons Final I had to turn all the electronics & phones off in my home cos in Adelaide the Ch 9 replay was on at 1.30 am. Foxtel didn't show it at all! So Game on and after a bit of Benji magi, I'm thinking, this is gonna be great! An hour and a half later around 3.00 am We won! I yelled out to no one in particular "We're in the Grand Final" My wife replied from our bedroom upstairs " I know"

The next day my mate Bernie called to say as a member of the Olympic Stadium blah blah blah that he had a ticket for me if I wanted to come over. The wife gave me a leave pass and I had the time of my life!

I was overseas as well missed a lot..
That run to the finals was crazy!
Away from home to the more
fancied dragons, and then patty
Catching the flick ball with 1 hand
switching ball carrying hands and
then fending off Jenson with a
bung ankle is legendary. The team
looked like they were playing touch
footy a lot of the time, so many
quick play the balls and runners
in motion. Everybody was hungry

I was there. Best rugby league game I’ve ever attended. We outcheered the dragons supporters all night even though they outnumbered us.

Great game.
After all this time, I tend to especially enjoy the first 5 minutes ( Benji's try ), and the last 5 minutes ( crowd shots of saints fans crying )

Best atmosphere at a game ever
Behind the goals before the game the Red V sat and they draped that huge St George flag before the game.
The roar of the red v was insane before that game
Then when Benji scored it went pretty quiet.

I loved the end with all those St George wankers crying.
They had the game won before kickoff and gave us no hope.

Most nervous I’ve ever been for a game.
I knew we could win the GF if we could get past The Dragons .
Their backs always used to terrorise us.It was a master stroke that’s for sure ,all out attacking footy ,just score more points then them.

It was our best game of 2005. Absolute masterclass effort by the team that night.
