The only way your argument stands up is if it is endorsements you are talking about, ie a player promotes a brand of footy attire. What does arm's length mean? If a business entity, who has an affection or affiliation with a particular club, but is not actually involved in the administration, offers gifts or other financial incentives in order to entice them to sign on, is that arm's length? I don't think so.
