2023 ladder predictions

I think so as well but maybe Laurie will find a spot there. Brooks to me looks better as a wide running 6 and I have no idea what Doueihi's best position is.

We are pretty weak there.

I always keep track and edit what I think the team might be in the first post of that thread^.

I actually think the two main spots up for grabs are wing and lock (maybe centre too but I think Naden and Talau will grab those spots).

I think Laurie will be the fullback so I’d say it’ll be between Staines and Nofoaluma for the second wing spot.

And with lock, if they go with a youngster like Matamua there, it likely means that Twal or Pole misses out on the 17, which I don’t see happening (which is why I’ve gone for Ofahengaue there).

Just my thoughts though.

yeah agree, I think junior gets a wing spot over Nofo - he's MIA at the moment so something must be up.

no way they leave pole out or Twal, so agree Joffa prob gets 13 to start. Manama will be very close, its probably the toughest one to pick as it impacts the bench as well.

Interested to see 14 - has to cover API, but wouldn't surprise me if we go Laurie 14, staines 1

Laurie is a back up option.
That's why he's trained there somewhat during the pre season.

Back up option,
Not first choice by any means.

AD and Brooks are the halves.

Will Smith an option when available.
Seems Simpkin has been training in multiple positions, I think he jags the 14 come round 1.

I reckon Joe O will be at lock as well. If not Twal misses out. We have to play Pole.

I also think that rugby recruit might get a chance in the halves.
He's top 30... and has been training there.
Another option eh.

He looks to be in a good condition this season, more so than 2022... kinda leaned out, looks athletic. Hopefully has gained some more speed too.

I don't have much confidence in our halves but who knows they may turn it on.

Rielly yeah.

anyone heard if that other guy gets a contract Hudson?
Reilly’s in the Top 30. Centre/five-eighth.

Houston’s a prop, won’t get a Top 30 spot but will likely be kept on his Train and Trial deal and play NSW Cup.

Will play in the first trial too and get a chance to impress.

Are you counting David Fifita playing for Canberra or Titans?

I see the Titans doing OK with Fifita. Flopping without him as per past years.

Houston not Hudson.... lol. ok. haha

He's one I'd like to see more of, interesting as it's hard for a forward to make the jump to league.

Reilly saw a bit of him and not sure he's worth a top 30 spot. will see though.

First trial sounds like it will be all about people playing for contracts. great idea

Sharks/Raiders/Broncos /Dogs/Tigers to go forward...improved rosters and /or good coaches
Eels/Rabbits/Dragons /Manly and Knights to go backwards(some from a low base)..same reason
Panthers still the team to beat
Dessie H to have a full time gig at Knights ,Dragons or titans by 1st July
Potter to have a caretaker gig at one of the above by same date...but thstme leading to a permanent role
Tough business being an NRL coach

des and potter too good not to have a gig.

Roosters will go up due to no injuries. or less at least

rest I reckon I agree with

Storm
Penrith
Roosters
Sharks

Souths
Parramatta
Cowboys
Canberra

Bulldogs
Wests Tigers
Broncos
Titans
Warriors

Manly
Dragons
Newcastle
Dolphins

At best I think we could go as high as 7th. With our forward pack, I can’t see us in the bottom 4 Team.
I think we will be competing with the mid tier teams for a shot at the finals. We are very skinny in the halves, if one of them goes down for part of the season..we are no chance of making the finals.
Smith is capable if not brilliant, but then again neither are our starting 3. The kids coming through may ease the problem at the end of the year
