And although it appeared likely we now have confirmation that our 2 major signings from queensland last season, Hill and Dotoi have both left the club. Sad, as both were very skillful players.

I know with Dotoi in particular, the club really did their best to try to keep him as part of the system.
Wasn’t for lack of trying.

Apart from Hill and Dotoi though, the retention of juniors has been outstanding.

Yeah I look at the Flegg squad and there are some standouts. However some spots are still lacking that extra quality and I expect when SG Ball finishes, we have a large portion of those players moving up to play Flegg.

Most disappointed about Dotoi not sticking around. Clearly couldn't handle life away from NQ and not much the club can do about that.

Keen to see Herman Tofoaeono's progress this year.

Really notable on the Wests side of the ledger how well we have retained our juniors, but some key retentions on the Balmain side too. Keenan Lawandos for mine is the one to keep hold of through the ranks. Super impressive in few games of Harold Matthews I saw last year.

I thought Lawandos looked a bit lumbering in the games I saw.
A bit too much muscle, not lean enough.

But I see much more of the Wests games than I do Balmain, and he was apparently a standout in some of the games I missed.

Hopefully goes well in Ball.

Fair enough. Not seeing all games can make it hard. Might be an inconsistent player at the moment by the sounds of it.
