Disappointing....NSWRL still not giving very much coverage at all....

This year NSWRL TV is back boasting a schedule that will showcase talent from both genders in Under 16s all the way through to the premier competitions of The Knock-On Effect NSW Cup and the Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership.

NSW Cup increases to 13 teams in 2023, while the Women’s Premiership rises from nine to 11 teams.

In addition to one game each week streamed for these two major competitions, there will also be one UNE Harold Matthews (Under 17s), UNE SG Ball (Under 19s) and Harvey Norman Tarsha Gale Cup (Under 19s) broadcast.

The 2023 schedule also includes:

- All SLE Laurie Daley Cup (Under 18s) games

- All SLE Andrew Johns Cup games (Under 16s)

- Select other games such as Wheelchair State of Origin, Jersey Flegg (Under 21s)

- Men’s and Women’s Country Championships

- City v Country games

- Finals series for all above competitions, alongside Ron Massey Cup (state’s second-tier) and Sydney Shield (third-tier) games

What age group is the Andrew Johns cup? Also what’s the go with the MacArthur west tigers? I get they are associated with us and it is an area but why the different name?

Could call them Western Suburbs Magpies, like the Matt’s & Ball Cup teams - if you prefer ?

Andrew Johns Cup is under 16. Many of these boys will play Matthews Cup for Wests next year.

Because the Andrew Johns and Laurie Daley Cup teams are almost entirely made up of players from the Macarthur district + Group 6.

You will find though that the best juniors usually play two years of Harold Matt’s / SG Ball, rather than playing one year of Andrew Johns, one year of Harold Matts etc.

For example Onitoni Large and Ali Karnib are 16 this year and are from the Macarthur district comp, but will play two years of Harold Matts, rather than play in Andrew Johns Cup.

This is because the Matts and Ball comps are stronger.

its WT's way of keeping the juniors from Group 6 and Macarthur on the books and allowing them to develop in an elite pathways system if they're a year younger than Matts and Ball, or if they are worth persisting with. considering our neglect of the area for decades, including when I was running around as a junior, its great to see.

I encourage anyone who is upset by the bare bones streams being offered by NSWRL to lodge a complaint via their website: https://www.nswrl.com.au/contact-us

The more complaints received the better chance they take action.
Pretty inexcusable that all Flegg, NSW CUP and HN-WNSW premiership games aren't streamed. Matts, Ball and Tarsha Gale should ALL have ALL matches live streamed too. Of course if a game is on tv then a stream isn't required.
If NSWRL don't want to stream all games then they shouldn't block clubs from streaming their own games!

That sounds unreal about the McArthur west tigers sounds like we have really got our act together. I was very confused Cause back when I played it was Harold Mathews and sg ball I’m happy to see other comps added. How are the other comps structured? Is it 8 games like maddies and sg?

Only five rounds then finals, for Andrew Johns and Laurie Daley Cup.

Only a 10 team comp in those ones.

It’s Macarthur Wests, Western Rams, Newcastle-Maitland Region, Riverina District, North Coast, Monaro, Central Coast, Northern Rivers, Northern Region, and Illawarra South Coast.

Very country-based comp.
Hence why our teams are made up of Macarthur district + Group 6 players.
