Luke Brooks #167

Cam Smith trying to claim it was an accident. That'll do me. I genuinely believe there has never been a player do more damage to the game of rugby league than that clown. Grub of the highest order, and whats worse is that he was a good enough player to not need to be a grub but chose to anyway.

Grubs, the pair of them, not to mention sanctioning of such by the coach who also ruined the game with wrestling. Can never like that side until the last of them is gone.

Anyway, hope that our halves shut all of us up bar the loudly cheering on of them this season.

Sheens was aiming up at the bully trolls that say disgraceful things or say the same stuff over and over again.

If you want to have your say and move on go for it. But if your say is hanging around more than its welcome or abusive that's really your issue.

Hopefully this is a reality check, no one wants to hear you say the same crap over and over.

I'm not sure why Sheens and all the tigers talk so much about the brooks treatment. Not criticising them doing so, I would have just thought you'd talk up players, coaches, training focus etc instead, and I'm surprised professional players and coaches focus so much on what is being said about them. Even if you're asked specifically about it, I wouldn't call criticism and personal attacks on brooks 'bullying', that's just the nonsense of the modern media/social media stuff and giving it attention seems pretty pointless.

I suppose I'm wondering how does making brooks into some kind of victim help his confidence and perception of him?

Ch10 a few minutes ago Tim Sheens commented that the online stuff which crosses the line and is directed towards Brooks is tantamount to bullying. Well said.
This is like ya mum standing up for ya down the park.
Gets out the car, comes running over and says to the other kids, “stop picking on my little boy!” And then gives him a little kiss on the forehead to make it all better.
I remember this happening to a kid we were all picking on when we were primary schoolers and deadset I reckon if there was a hole full of sewage to hide in he would have jumped in it.

Here we go again… lumping anybody with a different opinion in the same mob that goes overboard.
All of a sudden you are a ‘troll’?
The same apply to his back slapping apologists?

Sheens' quotes about Brooks are included in the video I've posted in the Community News thread - at approx. 3.57.
It was a brief statement made by him in which he commented that some of the online criticism is "disgraceful and paramount to bullying".

This is JMO but I'd honestly prefer anything other than media pieces about it being his team and year to be unleashed.

Tony's post covers off the issue well.

You reckon Cleary, Hughes, DCE, Reynolds, Hynes, Townsend, are not leading their teams and controlling attacking decisions and plays? Our problems have have been far more reaching than Brooks but there is a reason the 7 commands the big dollars. If they were not integral to a teams success they wouldn't be in such high demand and Brooks wouldn't be copping the criticism. Sheens has just thrown 1.4 at a 7 to address the problem.
I just had a check on the Manly forum, and despite having superstars during DCE’s time at the club, and not having made the finals for 5 seasons they had the Qld and Australian 7 “controlling attacking decisions “ there is very little criticism of the highest paid player in the NRL?
Leads me to think the criticism of Brooks is disproportionate and in some cases the personal attacks on his character and personality type are cowardly.
I’m not directing that last remark at you mate, just a generalisation of what I’ve seen here and at games.

He sure hasn’t done anything yet to fill it up though.
Unless Sheens runs him wider of the ruck with someone else directing play I can’t see him doing it.
We all wait in hope…. justified of not.

Reality is the Wests Tigers as an employer are more liable than Brooks is. It’s their decision to appoint any player onto the roster week in week out not Brooks. We have punted ALOT of players over the last 10yrs but consistently kept Brooks. Thats on the club not Brooks.

Yep. But it’s perfectly fine for the Brooks apologists to take personal potshots at players like Hastings and AD during the year because they had the unmitigated gall to outperform their favourite player. Not to mention some of the blatant lies they’ve told.

That’s not even getting into how they used to attack like a pack of hyenas during the previous generation of mods who would hand out bans if you did any less than fondle Brooks balls.

There was no room in the hole for him, as those bullying him were the hole full of sewage. Kudos to his mother for stopping it.

Sadly, most of us have done so, including myself thinking it was okay back when my kindergarten school comprised of K-2 and was separate from primary.

Thankfully I learnt better way back then, and it is no longer tolerated by the vast majority of society. With only a relative very few still thinking that stating crap like the need of adding a little cement, rather than education, is in any way sensible.

No, but those writing "punt the XYZ" or liking such are acting like that or either a bully, and should be condemned by all.

People want to talk about moderation, yet they celebrate the above.

So you highlighted my statement that said “picking” and then you changed that to “bullying”.
You can try and change what I was saying into some kind of poor form from primary schoolers if you want to but I will not be replying to it.
The kid we we’re picking on, coz his team was shite at the time, is still a close mate of mine and although I can barely remember what we were picking on him about, we all remember his crazy mum, whom I love dearly, for doing what she did. But kudos to you for making out like we were bullying some kid when we were not. Did you call the media? 😀

Apologies, but I couldn't take it any other way, and ask that you go back and read your post.

The post was written in the context of a discussion on bullying, so it could help me and others if you don't/didn't talk of mothers protection of their children, along with use of a phrase that is synonymous with bullying, terrorising, abusing, etcetera.

As the term "picking on" has no good connotation that I am aware of, I suggest using "taking the piss" or a similar expression next time.

Luke Brooks is a failed halfback that has been able to carve out a career in the NRL by being part of a failed merged team, ran by incompetent management and surrounded by equally poor players. I can’t think of a single team outside of the super league where a player of his caliber would be playing NRL week in week out. It’s not his fault, I wouldn’t expect him to refuse money and really is a reflection of the whole poor organization.

People getting hung up on bullying, “support your team” etc ..is just another excuse for a player that has no business being in the NRL. The sooner the club parts way with him ( and hopefully his fan club) the better.

Just to be clear, #puntbrooks.
