Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

And in each of the 10 years he has played behind dud packs.. judge Brooks this year
I totally agree. Behind the pack we have put together and a style of play more suited to him, perhaps we see him fulfil the promise he showed in the juniors. That being said, we need to see that before the discussion on multi-year deals should begin.

To our detriment IMO.
What happens if he is still proves to be a dud?
Will Moses be the next guy to cop the blame for Brooks poor games because he overcalls him ... like Benji, Robbie etc?
Will the new pack get the blame for not being as good as we thought they would be and letting him down?
Or will Sheens get the blame (like every previous coach) for not being able to get the best out of him?
If he does stay I pray the other blokes in the team are good enough to pull the anchor, that's been holding us down, back up from the seabed.
The only thing in defence of signing him is he won't be playing halfback if Moses comes and, the reality is, he's much better where he doesn't have to run the team.
Also, just where does he go if AD kills it at 5/8 this year and totally outplays him?
If we sign Brooks for 3+ years before he has proved himself to be worth the extension, or just because his manager uses him as a bait to get Moses, the club will be a laughing stock ... again.
PS If they sign him now for 3+ years to play halfback, without Moses coming, they are imbeciles.
There's gonna be IF's with whatever decision we make to start a change - all I know is that getting Mitchell Moses makes us a better team and will make us competitive and more attractable to free agents.

Api
Moses
Papalili
Klemmer
Bateman

There's enough quality there to assume we're stepping in the right direction, sure as hell a lot better than:

Mbye
Reynolds
McQueen
Packer

I've been AD's biggest fan on here, but are we gonna really let the potential of AD having a good year gatecrash a acquisition as big as Moses?

Hopefully this doesn’t lead us into signing him out of guilt. If I was that guy I would signed up straight away. Get a nanny. Pretty sure he could afford one. Get the parents to come over. My wife is from Brazil (oh behave!), and we’ve had no help at all with my little Tito’s.

Bottom line - don’t resign Seyfarth. Plus, this also has me doubting how intelligent he is. What an idiot.
Not an idiot at all. New Baby + moving country is a nightmare.

Maybe we will punt him. Maybe he will stay. I want to see how he goes this year.
If Seyfarth is a dud again, he is gone. If he fights for his bench spot, well I hope Sheens picks the best.

Aggressive forwards bash a lot. I expect we will have injuries and Depth in the front row is always welcome. We punted a tonne of Depth and kept Seyfarth when really Garner may have been the better pick. Yet I see no issues leaving Seyfarth on for now, Glad to have competition for the second or third bench spot instead of throwing this guy first year into the Front row.

Agree mate..

If you told us fans back mid last year that we would have signed Api, Ice, Klemmer, Bateman, Stains and right in the mix for Moses we would have said your dreaming..
Full Credit to the club as it would not have been easy to attract these players considering our last 10 years of results etc..

IMO the best part of all this is the forward pack has been addressed and the halves will now have room to work their trade..

The club probably want to ship Seyfarth but from all the footage and images of the pre season he looks to be standing outside of Klemmer looking to link up. He may have a role this season. Can see him improving with better players around him. 2nd phase yardage guy.

What's more he is a loose unit and plays with heart.

Yeah if signing Moses is contingent upon Brooks being resigned for another 3 years, that's insanity. He should earn the next contract like they're expecting Laurie and Doueihi to.

I get it however Brooks would probably be the main reason Moses would come.

If it was just about cash he would’ve signed by now.

It’s either going to be Brooks/Moses for next few years or we will be watching Moses run out for the Eels and we move into lottery territory of who knows for us.

So back to players dictating the terms? sweet, we know how this ends.

2024 headline: Benji looses the changing rooms.

Its pretty funny seeing people not wanting Moses over what happened in the past. Reminds me a lot of some members who used to keep the whole "that player doesn't belong here because he has been naughty and doesn't uphold the magnificent standards of our club" vibe. Worked pretty well resulting in more than a decade of absolute mediocrity.
People have short memories .. was only a few years ago no one would go near the wild man called David Klemmer as he was the bad boy of the NRL .. now people are excited about having the beast here. Moses has developed into a decent footballer .. probably rank top tier of half backs currently in the game .. its just unfortunately that he has a very greedy manager. Its not MM fault he is just out to play footy and get paid at the best amount to look after himself and family for years to come .. oh and to look after his manager as well. I'm excited that if we do secure him we have proper attacking half back with a decent kicking game .. and a goal kicker to boot .. (sorry for the pun there) i dont care if its 2024 or 2023 he will add heaps attacking flare to our side, and improve us to be a top 8 team for sure.

Maybe this is another conspiracy theory ...but is Moses trying to help Brook's career at the WT's with all this possibly coming back to the WT's talk ......would you put anything past Issac Moses ....

It's definitely a conspiracy theory that requires incompetence on the Tigers part and unethical behavior on the managers part but it could also be true.

It's all off-putting to me.

I'm really keen on watching these new guys on their first run out .. Scolari .. Reilly .. Wakeham .. James .. Tumeth .. Matamua .. Bula .. Hill .. Peni .. Feledy. Especially Reilly at 5/8 .. good luck lads, you're wearing the mighty Tigers jersey do us proud .. !! First game on TV tomorrow night .. waahoo .. bring it on. Stef for Capt .. ??

Are the extra's getting to play as well .. like Chris Fa'agutu and Zane Camroux .. ??

Long-time lurker first-time poster.

I don't normally get goss but I got some juice I thought I'd share.

kitione kautoga won't be at the club in 2024 and if he gets his way he'll be out the door this year. Hope I'm wrong because I rate this kid big time.

Eels made another offer for Moses but it's still less than ours. Everything the Pom mentioned is 100% spot on. The club is confident and his manager and brother are pushing for him to take the Tigers offer.

Two kids you'll be hearing more of over the years are Michael Nassar and Lachlan Galvin. The club has big wraps on both players.

I don’t agree with it either, we don’t need to as well. But doesn’t mean Moses can’t ask for it. I get why he would ask as well. We also are in abit of a bind with minimal leverage.

What are our options though?

We say no, Brooks performs and we extend him later in the year costing us Moses

We say no, Brooks moves on, we miss out on Moses and left with a lottery pickup

We say yes only if it means Moses comes

Keep in mind AD might not stick around as well which is clear from the way things are playing out he isn’t viewed longterm in the halves either.

We don’t have much leverage here unless we want to just rebuild fully with young halves as the market is very dry.

Seyfarth has the attitude but he lacks the physicality. Here's hoping the S&C team have somehow performed a miracle on his body.
