Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Moses announcement will be next week. He informed his teammates yesterday after the trial match of what he is doing. He has signed a lucrative deal with Philadelphia Eagles as a Punter on the special teams!

Yes and no. On his form we were already heading in that direction, so who really knows if it was inevitable anyway??
I am not a fan of coming last, but a lot of people were saying we needed to come last, to invoke change!
He was sacked last year to obtain Ciraldo, he was going regardless. It’s just our negative position in the media and general public that stopped this from happening! I can’t bag Sheens for trying to get the best young coach in the comp, it’s not his fault that we have gone down the rabbit hole.
Our failure is a club issue - not a coach issue -always has been. The very reason why no coach - experienced or not - wanted a bar of us 5 year deals and all. No other club who has sacked their coach has found themselves to be in a position to not be able to find a suitable replacement, except WTs.

I’m actually thinking the Tigers just turn this thing on its head and give Moses a deadline. We’ve made a good offer but can’t hang around waiting. May as well look at pilfering other players regardless if theyre contracted or not. We obviously have cash to splash so I’d be looking to offload Seyfarth and Noffa atleast and buying two or three quality outside backs ( that means Brooks, DOuhei, Staines and Laurie remain).

I don't think thats a good idea. Clubs don't stand still. There will be discussions about other players going on should Moses stay at Parra.

I don’t believe Ciraldo didn’t want a bar of us. As I have said he was scared of by the continued media witch hunt that is on our club! Look at the facts the dogs got what two wooden spoons, and u here nothing?? What the dogs won 2 or 3 more games then us with all their recruitment success in the off season, many high profile people picking them to be in the 8. Yet nothing about their poor form over several years, in fact worse than us fit quite a while until last season. It’s a media witch hunt, who from well I let u guess. Certainly takes the pressure off certain clubs if there’s a whipping boy!
Not saying our club has been great, but name a successful merger??? We’re trying to change that narrative books a looking good, recruitments are on the up. Even if we don’t get the slimy turd at least we are in the hunt also pushing the sea slugs to spend more.

That worked out really good with the big 4 when Ivan put a deadline on them.

There is zero point giving him a deadline if we have nothing else lined up.

We can talk to other players and start the process with them if we want.

Does anyone take the msm seriously when planning a career move?
Ciraldo politely declined saying we need more work on our roster. As I recall there was a Congo line of coaches moving in the opposite direction and some were warning Ciraldo not to make the mistake. Sure it was in the msm 😂 but direct quotes.

The problems associated with merge originally damaged the perception of the club, but now it has become the inability to turn things around on the field under the current management. Quality players and their managers have been giving us a wide berth for years - although use us to prop up client contracts- and now there is some reason to believe there are coaches who see us as a risk that they are not prepared to take. They know better than anyone you can't be successful without a quality squad and we have just not been able to successfully rebuild in a competitive market for 11 years - even being in a much better position financially.
If Sheens can play his part in turning things around - on paper we have recruited well -job well done. If the team fails it won't because of him alone although history will show he will carry most of the burden.

I think results will deservedly be on him, good or bad. He failed to find a coach so appointed himself. It's either brilliance or madness.

Re giving Moses a deadline.
Why not? We can't reach out with 1m offers to RTS or Olam or any other player while we have our cap zapped by Moses. If they both say "yes" then we would be in breech of the cap...
i.e.
Bulldogs under Haslier, Brisbane, Easts, Melbourne in 2007/2009....

Well hey I guess if other fish bite we should just sign them, aim for a grand final and stuff the books. What were going to get the spoon?

That’s a rubbish call. He had no choice, as he had no options. As stated by telltaiils we have been given a wide berth by managers fir 11 years. But before that who was the coach?? Before the wide berth and media scrutiny. He’s not the messiah, he’s just a very naughty boy!
But when te times were good for us Sheens was in charge. So I am willing to back him.

Just because you think this is the case, doesn’t make it so.
Ciraldo turned us down simply because it was too big of a job for a greenhorn. He even said as much, stating we needed an experienced coach.

Who was the coach before? Madge was, who Sheens sacked. Then couldn't replace him. He will need to carry the results he achieves.

We do not know at what stage the recruitment is but I'd suggest with the amount of cap space involved an answer has already been provided. It may have occurred some time ago. Let's be patient.
