It isn't just brown paper bags or shares. They are teaching young men how to use their money wisely. If one of them has an idea about a business they want to start/invest in, mortgage advice or anything else, they can go to a board member and get it moving.
People can whine about it all they want but that sort of thing IS above board and legal. Call it fools gold and try to say it is BS, but there is a reason those men are all multi-millionaires.
I hate that it happens and creates unfairness but it is allowed.

No one is denying that - and its good the club does it but it has nothing to do with the fact that the roster they have under the same salary cap as every other club is BS. There is no way they are taking 200 - 300k less per year because they can get good financial advice.

If we were willing to pay Moses $1.2m to $1.4m in the cap surely we could get Welsby, Dodd or Williams on ~$800k and have up to another ~$600k for a transfer fee. Plus we preserve salary cap given transfer fees aren’t counted in the cap.

I really can't stand the guy and have been baffled any tigers supporter would want him back.

Not only did he leave how he did, but every game against the tigers he rubs it in. This is the guy who kicked a fking field goal against them when they were up by about 40 points with a minute left on the clock.

Good news in that Parra came up to $1.25 per year at 1 point it was around 1m and no doubt 3rd party payments high focus also.

Brooks extending is meh to me just like AD, the market is dry and if he wants to stay no doubt it would be on less plus we get the long serving reduction from memory. There isn’t better now available especially if the long term view is the kid’s planning for 25 onwards.

It also allows us more cash to spend on other positions & be in pole position to keep our best young talent cash wise.

Still not great missing an elite halfback who no doubts propels is to another level

The 600k doesn’t come out of the cap if its a transfer fee and would need to be used on a player as part of the cap

It’s an option but club does have plans for Conti so it expect if a half does come in it would be an experienced half not a rookie

But all our young halves are currently 15, and 4 years away from first grade!
We currently have no decent half prospects at NSW Cup, jersey Flegg or SG ball Level!! None.
We simply must sign a young half who might be ready to fill in next season if Brooks can't get better.
Give Brooks a one year extension, with a club option for another 2 and let's see how he does. He's done bugger all for years now and we simply cannot put all our eggs in one basket when that basket has already been smashed to smithereens on multiple occasions!

Not a chance in hell. Offer him 2 years at a million, club option for a third year. And that's the highest we should go
