Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

My favourite was giving a penalty away while we wait to receive a dropout but touch the ball giving it back to the opposition to then concede a penalty goal to lose the game....
Stupidest rule in league. If the kicking team doesn't kick it ten metres why is the receiving team penalized? It should be the defending team's problem not the attacking....
Why did you remind me of this one 😣 was this kapoa? Can't recall

He is a good player, but also an emotional player. The last thing we need is him here at 1-4 mill for 5 years and not live up to expectation. Already some are labelling him the difference to us making the eight and or not. He is a great front runner but a very different player when the going gets tough and the chips are down. Not a player to be investing that sort of money - to lift a team from the doldrums - for 5 years at the backend of his career.
Rubbish.

He might have been that earlier in his career, but Parra don't go anywhere near the GF last year without him. He's no different to most halves that need a forward pack to go forward to perform. His kicking gave Parra every chance in the GF but they were rolled every time Panthers had the ball.

I understand people don't like him and thats fine. But there are people on this forum that far too often let their personal feelings cloud their judgement in relation to a players ability.

Why am I the only person who is worried about us signing a super long 5 year contract for a player who is good, but often on/off?

Those 4 year contracts for Reynolds, Mbye and Packer just did our club wonders.
But yes, 5 years for a player older then all 3 when they signed ... for very large money...

Ofcourse we still don't know if we need a halfback or a fullback or to resign players we are trailing out this year.

Keep our warchest closed for a bit. Lets see who needs to get punted and who wants to stay.

InIf legit the club made the right decision. Too much of a risk to sign him for that long without him even playing so far. If Brooks wants to get that kind of deal he’s got at least 10 rounds to show why he should be kept that long.
No
Laurie was way better than Staines at FB against Canberra

9I am glad the Moses saga is over and I am not disappointed by the outcome. The idea of bringing back a player that tanked on us to get his own way, just didn’t sit well with me. I didn’t think we were seriously a chance of signing him, we were just driving up his Parra price. Would he have made a difference to our team, probably, would he have taken a giant chunk of our cap for years, definitely, are there plenty of fish in the sea, absolutely.
Time to turn our attention to this season & the cubs we have and maybe look at Welsby etc.

I have no grudge against Mitch Moses but have a problem with the reported terms of what it will take to get him - Parra also baulking. What ever reason he has for not signing with Its - given we have thrown the kitchen sink at him - I can see the risks with the length and cost of that contract for us if he does not live up to the expectations that plenty will place on him.

parra forwards got them there last year and in the GF the forwards were steam rolled
The parramatta backs had a pretty ordinary semi final series

Thanks for the measured response. I understand where you are coming from, but I'm a believer in halves being at their best between 28-32. They still have the athletic abilities but more than anything they know the game better than they ever have. Its that perfect crossover time between ability and knowledge before the age interferes with ability.
As for the terms........who knows. It was reported one day to be 1.3 mill, two days later in the same paper 1.4. It's not really dissimilar to Brooks, who has been spoken about being well over 1 million this year by the same rag for a long time, only for them (today or yesterday) to say we are one of the few clubs without a player on a million dollar contract. One can only assume they guess, just like we do here.
