Brooks has all the athletic attributes to be a very capable NRL halfback. Unfortunately he's dumb as a box of hammers.

He isn't dumb or at least I don't know if he is. He executes poorly at times but especially when we are on the attack close to their line. He is also at the backend of his career and it's unlikely he'll fix this issue now.

He has all the skills but not the ability to execute under pressure.

Haven't read the full thread, but I was banging on that the tigers should've done everything they could to get Garrick last year.

He's a very good fullback stuck behind turbo (he's supposed to be moved to the centres, but is still on the wing after re signing!) - far, far better than Laurie, and one of the best goal kickers in the NRL.

Solves two massive issues by signing one player.

I'm actually hopeful Manly won't move him to the centres, he gets pissed off, and the tigers can take over his contract.

Seriously, the amount he would improve the team would be incredible.

They also wouldn't have to rush Bula to fb and Garrick would likely be the best centre the club has after that.

Agree that one good game doesn’t guarantee star status, but it was a very good sign.
Not only Bula, but the majority of our KOE Cup Team are 21 or under and a few of them have and continue to show enough to be potential NRL quality IF they continue to improve as young players normally do.
Bula, Tupou and Kautoga are potential superstars, we haven’t had young 19 year olds with their superstar potential for quite some time. Keep in mind they are the flashy players, quite a few others in this current KOE Cup squad are the nuts & bolts type of players who can also potentially become very valuable at NRL level.

Don’t forget, these guys are being readied for Benji in 2025 so what mustn’t be too impatient.

Unfortunately one neat try by DL does not make up for his poor form at the back on Sunday .
Failure to take a critical bomb= concede one ptry.
Failure to be in position to diffuse a grubber kick from 10metres out= concede one try.
Unforced knock on coming out of defence = concede one try.
Nowhere near good enough for a competent 1st grade FB. And silly me suggested him as a player to perform in 23 with so much pressure on his position.
I’d be more comfortable if he didn’t score a try and saved 3.

It's 1 game. I'm betting on Brooks to improve this season and he didn't. I picked Doueihi last season.

I hope they all get it together but I'm concerned none of them do.

It's an easy fix doing this. I don't think Staines is great but he is fast and looks a lot more reliable under the high ball.

I think I've been as hard on Laurie as anyone, and really think he should've been dropped this week.

I was a fullback when I played and agree he is terrible. It amazes me an nrl fullback is so consistently out of position. Drives me crazy actually and he is a liability to say the least. I really wonder wtf he is doing and I think he does too!

Unworthy of his spot? Definitely.

But hitting the gap running onto that Doueihi ball is exactly the type of try a fullback is there for.

He's never anywhere else he's supposed to be, so I thought I'd give him that at least! 🤣
