Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Gus has continually said they are not interested in Laurie, also said Laurie's best position is 5/8th, Gus is such a liar who likes to portray himself as the victim, in saying that, I hope it's true, we need a clean out, but the Dogs don't need a 6 though
We do. How about we try him there before cutting him loose…

It's alright mate, Easts will end up signing Walsh for 300k below his value as 'he had dreams of playing for Easts' (who dreams of playing for that shithole).
I would for sure.
Living in the best parts of Sydney due to under the table payments….invitations to the best parties…invitations to the best women…and you are in a team who consistently pushes for the title.

Our former stats man, Curtis Woodward, (now employed by the Bulldogs) reports via Twitter:

Daine Laurie headed to Belmore? Hearing the off-contract Wests Tigers fullback and his manager just met with Gus over a drink at The Locker Room Bar at Olympic Park.
The club doesn't appear to be in a rush to re-sign him at this stage. But is it me or does Daine look slower than last year ?

its been debunked he was already in melbourne at the time they said this meeting was
could still have happened at another time, the media have tossing sh!t lately and are going with what sticks

Think it was Brimson who easily outsprinted him in round 1 which quite surprised me
..he aint no Reece Walsh, that's for sure..so am wondering what difference he can make?Hopeless under the high ball, outpowered in defence, lazy at times in support, and no evidence of ballplaying skills
Desperate to sign the England kid

People criticising POM like they have better mail.

There is honestly no incentive or reason to post inside mail on here if you have it. None. Even if your mail is right 90% of the time, you will get scolded for the other 10% where the club has been mislead by media/management or something has changed. Better to keep it to yourself, not worth it.

Be appreciative for what is/can be given.

It is interesting that most complain about the leaking of information by the club, but then also complaints that there is no credible information being shared. You can't have it both ways. Either you want nothing getting out or you want information.

Personally i don't have any issue's with what yourself or the pom or anyone else out there that may hear things from time to time. Things are fluid things change people get things wrong this is about rumors after all its not the truths thread.
People should be able to clearly distinguish the bullshit artists from the rest, hope you carry on posting as i hope the pom does or anyone else for that matter. If i wanted things to be spot on accurate all the time i would wait for the club statement, i really dont have time for that.

Brimson would be classified as a fast player. We don't have anyone in that bracket other than Staines. And if Staines is stuck on a wing and a break is on the flank then he's of limited value, hence why Staines is EASILY our best overall option for fullback at the moment.

I think readers are just frustrated. He is wrong a lot of the time so I think you would have to be incredibly naive or desperate to take his word as the gospel. Anyone who thought or stated Moses was on the verge of coming knows nothing and should never be listened to again, that was the litmus test.
Maybe people who've only been on the forum for less than 18 months should just shut the #$%^ up and have some respect to others.

Over the past decade they've got far more right than wrong. If you only look at a couple of posts then sure that small sample may suggest otherwise. Smarter users look at the big picture, not one offs.

Staines has a shot at catching the high ball..and has speed
Laurie has neither
Douhi tried at 1 and found wanting
Can only think both Staines and Laurie heading elsewhere in 24

Weekes looks the goods doesn't he.

Haven't seen the others.

Can't believe the ground Wakeham has made so far this year, next two weeks are huge for him. If he can play well he may just propell himself into long term plans. From where he started 2023, certainly in my eyes anyway, it will be the Steven Bradbury story of the NRL.
Wakeham has always had good runs of form in him at NRL level. The problem is after a few matches his form has previously fallen off a cliff. Extremely erratic, a couple of strong games followed up with numerous absolute shockers. But given what Brooks and Doueihi have provided thus far he's not different, so is suddenly in with a chance of regular first grade.

Is it because he's not up to it, or more because he's still a bit raw and developing his consistency?

Don't forget Jason Taylor also had Jordan Rankin rated ahead of him. I'd have left if I was that underappreciated too. Rankin is one of the worst NRL players of all time
That was for Round 1, and the first couple of weeks of the NRL season.

Don't forget Addo Carr was coming out of U20s, was very skinny and had never played against adults. Not many kids go straight from junior footy to the nrl without playing some NSW Cup first. There was no harm at all in giving JAC a month of NSW Cup to show what he had, and in those matches he was able to stand out in attack and not get bullied too badly in defence, hence he got his shot.

The main issue was that we signed this hot prospect on a one year deal! We've given so many useless young players extended contracts over the years but the one time there was a player with x factor we wussed out. The factor his agent got crappy a month into the season and did the deal with Storm in secret, so early into the season, it was absurd from all parties.

I have never really seen him do much good, but to be fair I never pay much attention to Dogs games. What I've seen this year has surprised me greatly. Very keen to see him tonight.

I'm hoping (preying), that he is one of those halves that just can't get it together early in his career, then all of a sudden at age 24 it clicks. We desperately need a miracle story like that.
