Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I can't see Brooks being trade bait especially in relation to going to England. He may have too though because no club will offer him a contract at this point.
The way things stand Earl, his 1.1 million this year could cost him a contract worth 1.6 - 2 million over the next 3 - 4 overseas.

The coronary would have only lasted a few games , We win all 4 under Flanno I feel , and then the love turns up , the real problem now is if they sacked sheens and Benji no one will come hear , so we are stuck , the 9nly change can be Sheens drops off and Benji steps up now , he could then add to the staff if required , Sheens to do his job and stay well out of the football team and training , Sheens I think if we go 0/6 or 0/8 would have to move out of the way , Give Benji the rest of this season to sort out and fix what needs doing , 1,6,7
1 , RTS
7 ,
6 Brooks , with extra coaching from outside
It appears to me Benji has taken over already. He seems to be calling the shots from above. He obviously learnt a bit from Madge as we only used one player for 8 mins. Our halves were going so well.
Brooks appears shot and needs to regain his confidence in 2nds. I have never seen him as bad. AD defence is schoolboy stuff. We are really running with one assistant coach down as Tim appears more like Football Manager role. Maybe we are two down as Robbie does not seem to add much. Got his mind on the CEO job ?

How much is he worth ? 350k per season would be absolutely huge for him. In all seriousness is he even worth a 150k contract ?

He got so lucky with his last contract but that isn't happening again. He must know his career is about to be over.

100 percent, I cannot fathom another NRL team apart from us offering him anything other than minimum wage as a depth signing.
Scary thing is Sheens said he was going to sit down with the guys and start talking contracts in the first bye round.

Think it's presumptuous to say they'll re-sign Brooks based on this season form.

Hmm, don't think RF is qualified for the CEO role. He said he hated his economics degree just did it foe his dad. In saying that he does run his own businesses. Idk.

If we are moving on from Brooks, I think it's VERY important we don't simply replace him for another 'running halfback'.

The team needs direction. I think whoever takes on the role needs to offer that, or we are just going in circles.

Mitchell Pearce is definately a short term option. Cezar is similar as is Josh Drinkwater who has really developed in the UK. But they are all 30+

George Williams....I'm a little concerned he is like Brooks.

Tom Dearden perhaps?

Ideally- the Roosters will need to shave their cap somewhere next season. Manu should/could move to 5/8. Luke Keary would be ideal....

Taafe would be the other name I'd look at.

You could realistically put any of them next to Douiehi, who i think is redeemable. That leaves fullback. RTS obviously would be amazing. Will Kennedy wouldn't hurt either. But there has to be a progression for Bula, so RTS for 2 years might be the best
Roger has to be on our radar. 2 year deal - he turns 30 in June. Backend the deal and not resign or release Douhei.

One thing we are not talking about is wasting the prime of Api and Bateman in particular. We need to make the top 8 with these players either this year, which looks to be impossible now, or next if we are going to get the best out of them in their prime.

We have to win now. We have to move heaven and earth to win now.

No juniors, no prospects, no fringe first graders who aren’t also good footballers.

We need to bring in mature players in the next two to three weeks who can right the ship right away. Releasing mature players is not an issue for me.

Can we get Pearce/Williams and RTS into this squad immediately.

A player who hasn’t been mentioned for a run at 5/8 Jai Field. He was good for the St George in the juniors and got taken by the Eels under BA, which is a strong endorsement in my opinion. I think a Laurie for Field direct swap would be a good like for like deal.

I'm not worried about releasing players. Doueihi and Nofo appear to be the only dud contracts that are a concern and they aren't at the same level as Brooks. Brooks is gone next year.

I just don't see this working or happening.

It's going to take some time.

You are right though in that we really need these positions fixed now because the rest of the team is looking pretty good.

It’s probably been mentioned, we need an experienced halfback. Not a top dollar one. Someone to lead us around the park for a year or so. 🤔

Junior is a good thought, at this stage any experienced halfback will do in the short term.👍

Has anybody else thought how East or any of the big teams would be going if Brooks was there halfback.

ITS JUST A THOUGHT I HAD,
INTERESTING THOUGH ?.

Maybe Tim should advise the rest of our players to not let Brooks get the ball and see how we go.

Ok i am only acting as a mail-man so dont start shooting the messanger...
This is a friend of a friend of a friend situation, but given this is the section for rumors....
There have been discussions between AD's team and Eddie Jones about code switching. AD does have a rugby background.
The reason i am posting this is, i wonder if his crap form and lack of interest game day is him starting to kick stones so that we allow him to leave early.
I for one would not hesitate to let him go, as i feel his only position is centre and in my opinion he does not deserve a shot in the centres ahead of AJ and Naden.
