The organization could’ve let him go and get another contract

Instead they took the punt that after ten years of failure he would all of a sudden play well

If they cut him it’s going to look really bad and be a poor image for the club…

If we were smarter we could’ve let him be someone else’s problem and looked like the good guys

Brand reputation is real - and we have the least of any club

Great player, but is Ponga 2.0. The guy is 2 - 3 concussions out of retirement.
I would love him at the Tigers bit just think his career is winding down.

@jirskyr I'm no league aficionado but I'll be buggered if iv ever seen a player who needed a stint in lower grades and never got one. He is the most coddled player iv ever seen. He literally has had everything handed to him, you think about it every team desicion made is virtually made to try and accommodate and "unlock" him. As it turns out all we unlocked was an outhouse.

We need to remember Steph is only 21 - 22. He has at least a decade ahead of him, props don't hit their peak till about 29 - 30. He is still a baby.

There was nothing stopping (and still is) Brooks signing for another club for 2024, if the Knights really saw him apart of their long term plan they could of offered a big contract starting 2024 then asked for the early release. He is off contract next year therefor his value is whatever a club wants to pay him, if he’s unsignable that is completely on him and his own performances.

It appears I'll keep repeating myself, but OK I'll say it twice this weekend.

Knights apparently wanted up to half a million a year to take on Brooks. You are going to pay Knights a million bucks to take Brooks off your hands for 2 years? That's part of the reported reason the deal was scuppered.

I am supremely bored of the arguments that Tigers could have traded Brooks or Hastings, at our own discretion or leisure, as if the Knights weren't trying to drive their end of the bargain.

Fact is they took Hastings for zero cost to us, and they released Klemmer to us in return. That deal was never on offer for Brooks.

So it's not the Tigers' fault that they supported and trusted Brooks within his current contract, and he's not repaying any of that value. He wouldn't need a fresh start or a release if he could do a half-decent job of playing halfback.

I reckon you send him back to reggies, he will play horribly and disappear, maybe pick up a cheap deal at another club in 1-2 years.

I legitimately do not believe Brooks will be dropped, dominate reserve grade and demand promotion back to firsts. I reckon he disappears.

Anyway - I would’ve paid $500k if it meant we kept $600k (total package this year is $1.1m) …

Basically said decision on Brooks should be done by Easter. Re-signing looks unlikely.

Mentioned George Williams as out likely target and mentioned has a connection with bateman
