The new coaching experiment....

Like many on here I have been very dubious of Sheens coming back into this club after his somewhat diabolical exit many years ago...We are now suffering through a period of promises of better performances,a great recruitment drive and some promising youth coming into the NRL side..
What gets my attention and probably many others is the team has absolutely no cohesion,is error riddled, has no competent structure and can not convert field position into points hence we are 0/4...
Why can Sheens take over from Madge and then instate Marshall and Farah as his coaching team to take over in 2 years time as head coaching, when they have absolutely no coaching experience at NRL level ??
Sheens HAS BEEN a reasonable coach over the years BUT hasnt coached in the NRL for over 10 years..
Farah and Marshall were great players for the club and respected for that, but to put them into the coaching realm without any coaching experience of at least 5/6 years at any level is unbelievable to me...
I will also give this experiment time to manifest itself, however the club may be non existent of supporters, fans and members if it remains a losing formula and no wins are recorded soon...
I can recall the big statement Farah made that Potter cant coach,a man willing to try and get results and a positive outcome for the club only to be back stabbed by the person who is on the coaching team of an NRL standard team at this very time with a win rate of 0%,a mate he played in the 2005 GF with and a seasoned coach who hasnt had success in quite a long time...
Iam quite willing to state that therein lies the problem, great success to deliver us a premiership so many years ago,but in this point in time will deliver us another wooden spoon if they cant get this team of new hard working forwards, youth and some ordinary backs to combine and perform at NRL level...not all teams in the NRL have 17 topline players sometimes only some, but can get wins with great coaching, the thing that we are lacking atm.....

Some fair points ,but Madge had to go ,I'm sure Sheen didn't return to the club with aspirations of coaching but here he is with Robbie and Benji + Ferner also a ex head coach . personally it's the Play makers and Brooks is not in this first year and surly hsa a voice at training..
.but as head coach regardless of comments he made saying it's Brooks team etc he and the coaching staff must experiment with the team with out Brooks the next 3 week .

Ive been saying for years that weird as it sounds 2005 has been more of a hindrance then help. The sooner this club rids itself from everything 2005 the sooner the club will improve.

I really thought we were on our way until we practically brought back everything from that era in one fell swoop. Sheens has no business being anywhere near this club after what transpired with his sacking all thise years ago. Marshall, Farah and co also need to p155 off. No experience whatsoever. To think people laugh at the Walker brothers situation as coaches. Look what we have to look forward to...

Brooks is here to stay in the No7 jersey whether we like it or not. Sheens is to blame along with Pascoe for this. He will never be dropped whilst contracted no matter how much we carry on about him. Our only way to be rid of him will be if he asks for a release. Sheens has done wrong by the club and wrong by Brooks keeping him here.

The talk about us not getting Bateman if Hastings stayed is garbage. You get both in a room to sort it out. If Bateman still declined then we let him go and move on. For too long we have let the players have too much say in this club. Look at the way Farah carried on in the twilight of his career. I wouldn't have let him step one foot back in the joint because of this alone.

2023 will be a disaster and then what?? Marshall is not and will never be the answer.

I usually end rants like this by saying that I hope I'm proven wrong. I can 100% assure you I won't be. If this club was your pet you would humanely put it down.

Gosh, who would have thought? the new coaching experiment is all on Brooksy 😲 🤣
Yep he seems to be he is a protected species [This word has been automatically removed] him off , definitely not an original idea but hasn't been done if we win a few with out him you will probably say thank [This word has been automatically removed] the coaches had the ball to drop him,and you will be high five ' n ya buddy's.are in on the [This word has been automatically removed] Brooks off experiment bus 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I don't believe Brooks is here to stay in the 7 jersey. I also don't believe Pascoe is making the decision to retain Brooks.

He doesn't have a contract for next season.

I can't see this continuing or better put unless Brooks turns it all around he won't be given another contract.

From the time it was announced I have had 0 faith in the boys club coaching proposal. A feel good, back to the future, type proposal but I had concerns that there would be little in the way of structure and how to play percentage football and more, this is how to razzledazzle. The one thing I did have faith in was coaching to use each individuals strengths to their best ability. That does not appear to have worked. I dont entirely blame coaching for our current state but I strongly believe it is a big part of the on field chaos. "Rabble"
Luke Brooks can play football just not as a half. From my earliest memories of watching him, and actually thinking about it, I have doubted his ability to lead and direct a team. He is also not the entire problem but is a big part of it. "headless chooks"
Someone signed off on this coaching setup. Someone signed off on continuing (for 10 years) to try to squeeze Luke Brook's 'potential' into a halfbacks shoes. That someone or multiple someones is responsible for our current situation. Something is rotten upstairs.

Agreed,it is very easy to blame a coach like we ALWAYS do but this side has more talent than any we have had in a decade. It is true the coaching is poor but the people who make the decisions are untouchable and that is where the major problem lies.

The club hasn’t done wrong by Brooks by not releasing him a few years ago, the club would have been paying a large portion of his salary for no return.
Brooks isn’t tanking, his enthusiasm and effort can’t be faulted. I think his ability has been very overrated and our management fell for the spruiking of various journos and commentators acting on behalf of player managers

What I don’t understand about coaching an nrl side could fill a hard drive, but can someone please explain why for the last 6 games, which includes the 2 preseason challenge (trial) games, we had a different spine for each game?
I realise we had an injury or two, but for crying out loud???!!!

Sadly I

Sadly I disagree. Madge had to go, but Sheens had one eye on the job.

Other than Ciraldo who else did he interview? Early releases suggested he would be a key in the candidate selection. From what I see there were no candidates.

He also shredded the roster that was already weakened by injuries and threw kimmorley in to wear the flack. I think that was so he could call attention to the improvement under him, but there has been none

You have put some thought into it but I don't think so, ..
There is a hand full of first grade coaches out there in the wilderness with out a job and by all reports not many if any came bashing on the door for the position. So do you chase bloke's that aren't interested in coaching your team just because.?

There is a reason Sheens is a caretaker for two years. Any realist can see we are doing nothing for two years. Hoping to tread water with the current squad and wait for juniors to come through. It’s a bad time to be a tigers fan.
Been a bad time for a long time.
Hopefully some light at the end of the tunnel.... someday.

It really didn't have to be that way either. Our team outside of the spine (excluding Api) has been pretty good thus far. Heck, put Hastings in the 7 instead of Brooks and we're 2-2 at worst with a good shot at being 4-0.

Madge had to go

Always said this year was going to be a struggle and we will take a step change in 24 ready to run in 25 was the plan.

I wasn’t expecting us to win a heap but didn’t think some players would go as far backwards as they have. Top 8 was a pipe dream this year before the season started.

Will give them time but we need to at least show some intent & structure which is the most disappointing aspect so far.
