Every image i can find seems to have a slouch / bush had for Aussies in the conflict.

No Wests, no. Please tell me someone did one second of research.

For mine nothing will top the disgrace that was the Tommy memorial game. He may not have been an ANZAC nor a Wests Tiger per se, but he was the embodiment of toughness and the never-say-die attitude that Rugby League was built on. Leaving everything on the field.

The lack of effort that team took into that game on the day and the lack of respect shown to the opposition in the first half was a disgrace. A complete insult to his memory.
Tommy was a RAAFie. Just because he did not serve in conflict makes him no less than those who have. He signed his life away to the Defence of Australia and would have been called up if the need arose. He, and all of those who served in peace, deserve no no less recognition than those who crossed the shores at Gallipoli. Thank whoever you believe in that they, and Tommy, never had to put their lives on the line for the country they pledged to serve.

Man I hope the grumblings that they used American troops on the front image are not correct.

Imagine how embarrassing it would be if the club in their ineptness picked a stock image of AMERICAN service people to pay tribute to the ADF.

Where have you read that we are using American troops on the front image because if true there would be no greater insult to our soldiers both past and present.

Very disappointing. No Anzac jersey this year? No celebration of our troops, just some stupid generic commerative jersey, with pictures of american soldiers on it. Did we even pay any attention or did the club just google 'soldiers' and paste an image onto the design?

It's just disgraceful that we've moved away from an Anzac jersey and supporting our troops. This jersey and concept is very American.

And yes i'm sure the club is aware of who theyve put on the jersey, there would have to be a very deliberate reason to not call this an Anzac jersey for Anzac round. If they could have they would have.

From the dark web ( twitter).

I think it started from this stock image

Which seems like the one they used for the backdrop. A US marines photo.

The images of the two guys seems to have the wrong guns and helmets.

Again, I'm not a military buff so unsure.

I just did some googling, so he was as you say. Joined as an apprentice engineer in the late 60's.

Even more respect for the man.

I've plenty of respect for anyone who signs up to the defence forces. I've two uncles (one retired, one still serving,) that serve(d) in the Army, and their grandfather is commonly referred to as the youngest known ANZAC to enlist at the age of 13. Takes some cojones to sail to the other side of the planet and stare down Turkish machine guns.

In the backdrop is a UH60 Black Hawk with long range fuel tanks. Australian Army has them - the long range tanks are only fitted for specific missions, normally long range troop insertions or recoveries, as the increased fuel means a decreased payload.

It is unusual for an Aussie to have a Machine Gun draped across his pack; but it wasn't taken on patrol but returning from one so possible. The club website states that it was done in collaboration with Holsworthy Army Barracks so I suspect that they are using authorised ADF images, if not there will be someone in Defence with a please explain from the Big Fella running the joint.

The diggers/dog on the jersey are most likely special forces dudes given the club engaged with Holsworthy Barracks (2 Commando and Special Ops Engineer Regiment). If that is the case the equipment they were using and wearing would not be standard issue.

I think in general, the rule of thumb is that a citation needs to be provided when you're using an image, unless obviously they're logos or photos copyrighted by the company itself.

Hope at least somewhere on the website they cite the photo.

That was the day that confirmed to me that we arnt a club, just a franchise.

This is the image our creative geniuses knocked off from the interweb
