I would give that a go TBH as we need a half and he did an excellent job when Hynes was out.
With regards to Daine he is off contract end of year anyway and more than likely moves on so not to concerned.

Nicho Hynes signs six year deal with sharks for $7m

I can see the attraction of a six year deal. But unless they've built in some kind of index linking he's going to get hammered on the back end if his form is still good.

I don't understand some like yourself saying we haven't handled Laurie well. We got him out of reserve grade and gave him 2 full years at fullback, and first crack at fullback in his 3rd year. That's a great opportunity and time frame to prove yourself.

No, I would have persevered with him. Listened to Gus the other night talking about him in very positive terms, even saying that he could be considered by the Storm as a Papenhauzen replacement
In addition, Billy Slater also commenting that he believes he should be full back. They’re pretty good endorsements.
I repeat, I don’t think we’ve handled him too well but can see where you’re coming from.

Williams and Wighton would bring toughness. Both would be way overpriced. We can afford only one.

Williams brought the best out of Wighton. If we could can put both of them in a team with John Bateman, it could be dangerous. Bateman looks as good as ever. The right people feeding him would completely unlock him.

Forget about unlocking Brooks. Unlock Bateman. We should be building our team around him. He is the ultimate competitor. If I could pick one guy to play with in rugby league, it's him or maybe Cameron Murray. He's that good.

Bateman looked a bit gassed partway through our games. If he fixes this he could be one of the most devastating runners in the NRL.

If his attitudes sucks, which it definitely looks like from an outsider's POV that it does, then unless that is rectified he will always be just a bloke making up the numbers.

I'd love to see us give Connor Treacy a good offer, he gets 3 games a season at Cronulla and he is a much better player than that IMO. He has filled in and done a great job in numerous positions over the last few years, and he has that elusive ingredient: speed.

Jordan Rapana is off contract at the end of this season, if the Raiders don't want him I'd maybe offer him a 1, perhaps 2 year deal. He could do a job at fullback until Bula is ready.

Joey Leilua, well Rapana has sort of turned into his twin.
And he is not worth even considering, IMHO.
