Jahream Bula #269

a supremely gifted athlete who is incredibly raw. he needs time and we as fans need to be patient with him. he's being blooded now in order to fasttrack his development. I've always been curious about his abilities at 1, but the coaching staff clearly believe he's ready.

we were weary of Tupou being blooded last year and look how that's turned out. go well Jahream!
 
I for one am super excited for this debut, I am expected him to struggle but it will be a lesson for him and hopefully sheens persists with him. I wish he was debuting on a wing but as someone said earlier the injury to naden has probably forced him to debut at fullback. Go get ‘‘em tiger wishing you the greatest debut of all!!!
 
Hope he's given longer there than Laurie or Staines.

I'm sure he'll be fine in attack but against the fullbacks biggest threat is the opposition halfbacks kicking game. DCE isn't as skilful as Cleary or Moses but he probably has the smartest kicking game.

I'm not too sure about Staines but I can't imagine Tupou or Bula having much idea about positioning against a guy like DCE so it could be another game like Parra where they blew us with their kicking game.

He basically 'must' have been upgraded to be playing.

As you know, exceptions are granted when a club shows injuries / they can't fill the position.

But that is not the case and we have Reilly and Nofa (both NRL backs) in state cup available.

Staines and Laurie both can play FB.

There is no grounds for an exception, so he must have been upgraded.

Weird they have not announced it. Then again, the media team have not even uploaded a picture / he has been a blank for a month on the website. Uploading a photo would take what? 5 seconds?

Yeah get what you're saying definitely, but just seems like NRL exemptions are granted VERY loosely at the moment, so I'm not 100%.

His pic is on the website by the way (which tends to point to an upgrade of some sort, at least Development).

I reckon that's why Laurie is named, Be surprised if he takes the field....
Can't get an exemption if Laurie is in NSW Cup - Put him on the NRL bench,
Swap him out for 18/19 (A forward) an hour before the game... Bula stays. Done.

If he’s struggling I’m sure he’ll be shifted to the Wing-
remember a guy called Chris Lawrence- no one had heard of him- I think he was only 17 when he got called up if memory serves me -he was another sheens discovery,the team didn’t no who he was , just saying.

Robbie, I was asking yesterday about how Bula was able to be selected this week and whether we got some sort of dispensation from the NRL to play him earlier than Round 11 or if he had been up graded to the top 30.

I know Sheens has a rapp on the young bloke and gave the impression he would get an NRL start sometime this year but I'm sure most of us would appreciate some sort of clarification from the club about what is happening because members and supporters are constantly being kept in the dark about these types of things.

So much for members being given the latest information yada, yada, yada and the whole selection process at the moment shows definite signs of desperation.

Has to be, I agree with Ellery.
The media would have mentioned it, like they have with other clubs already the season ‘bulldogs’ when they had to apply for dispensation to play a player outside the 30.
