Jahream Bula #269

I have very little confidence in Shenji tbh,and an concerned that the premature elevation of Bula against one of the comps frontrunners is simply a PR stunt designed to distract attention away from the shockingly inadequate performance of the coaching staff.Possibly at theexpense of a young talent..
Yep.."were a development team"..."investing in the future.." "dont worry about todays result/performance" bla bla..take heat of the result and the coaches for the time being
Cynical I know...but have seen enuff
Hope Im wrong

Mate he’s the same age as Walsh, there’s nothing premature about it. More game time he gets the more confidence he will gain tupou is a prime example

I’m thinking there is no way Buka will play fb this week. Sheens will pull a change right at the death and he’ll go onto the wing and Staines/ Laurie full back.
I think there may be a few other changes as well so let’s see how it all shapes up around 2.30 on Sunday.

I think we've forgotten promotions like this are a main reason we are wests tigers fans.

The chance to see a junior to impress like benji, farah, halatu, gibs, Ellis, dwyer, Lawrence, did back in the day is what it's all about...

It's been that long.

Wests tigers are coming back.

Difference is Walsh was carving up in reserves..and went str8 doing the same in 1sts.. a huge talent.
Dont want him to end up like Laurie..different circumstances I understand
We all hope Bula does well..but feel hes been thrown in at the deep end at this stage
Only one way to find out

Nine News says we’ll have to upgrade Bula to the Top 30 to play him on the weekend.
Pity it's not as easy for us as it is for the Roosters. Remember a few years back they were given dispensation to debut one of their youngsters (can't remember who) because they had no centres left in their squad supposedly, even though Mitch Aubusson was in the 17 and had played centre heaps of times before.
Pays to be one of the teacher's pet clubs.

He looked steps behind the attacking structure, very deep and not in position. Defensively was well out of position. I’m not confident.
Of course he was in position, he's the fullback. He's following the structure and picking his moments, not necessarily part of it. I was at the game and anyone else who was there will tell you he and Toupou were standouts.

Benji and Lawrence were 17 when they debuted, Bula is 21. I get he hasn’t played a lot of NSW cup but I don’t agree we’re “throwing him in”. If the coaching staff think he is going (or could be) to be the long term #1, they should play him! Gives him the best part of two seasons before Benji takes over in 25, which is clearly the timeframe they’re working towards.

so, by your logic, after naming a debutant to play his first ever NRL game Sheens is going to burst his bubble and remove him from the squad and play Laurie and Staines in his place.

give me a break.

Walsh is ultra confident and skilful.

With a bit of belief and confidence who knows the limit to bula potential.

All good was just running off the highlights and he looked way off, but highlights don’t show everything outside the camera view especially for a fullback. Hope you’re right & the kid over the rest of the season shows us what he is made of.

Good point, when it comes to blooding young players Sheens is one of the best for all the Groat etc calls look at the hundreds of others he got correct. I wouldn't be surprised if he gives him a taste to see how he goes and then could shift him between KOE and first grade. Sheens is no dummy when it comes to developing young talent, something Madge had issues with.
