I think the issue is Sheens

Wests Tigers head coach Tim Sheens is confident the team can bounce back up the ladder in the next few years. 🤣

Sheens will coach for the next two years before handing the role to club legend Benji Marshall, and is excited for the future of the club, even after a winless start to the season.

Press PLAY to hear him list the timeline plus the guidance he’s giving to Benji Marshall

Sheens is a caretaker brought in to train up Benji. Unless you can’t work out the obvious every player knows it’s two years before any real expectation. This is a problem of our making so hold your breath for 2025. They’ve told us what the plan is it’s never been for sheens to be coach.

Nothing like wasting 2 years
Great idea

There was something Sterlo (or someone similar said).
We see 12 coaches doing the same thing, trying to copy Melbourne. There are only 3 original coaches doing something different in the game, Des Haslier, Tim Sheens (and I can't remember the third, maybe Bennett or Ricky it wasn't Bellamy.).

It wasn't that he was effective or ineffective. It was that his coaching style was very different.
The coaches are copying each other, they are all playing the same style of game.

Sheens style can work. You just need to make sure enough fundamentals are down , which is our problem.
I think any style can work if;

1)majority of if not all players buy in (man management)
2)you have above average talent (recruitment/retention)

We’re really gonna need patience for this plan.
I hope I’m still around when it comes to fruition

An embarrassing cop out from Sheens..how do we attract quality talent with this defeatist attitude..heck,we've got a near SOO forward pack..to get things going..need to build on it
Cant believe any Board wld buy into this ..
In the business world, you'd punt the old fossil and bring in someone more ambitious..like Flanagan

Well that that makes it difficult to attract any players in their prime with ambition. And if by some miracle we unearth a talent who we are competing with other clubs to retain with a winning mindset, I hope they are content to be patient.

We’re all getting taken for a ride. The board wouldn’t have any idea what success looked like. They do know mistakes have been made in the past, but trying to correct those mistakes is a waste of energy and resources.

A lot of his comments in pressers etc., have been terrible, even if you know it might be rough for a while you don't just come out and say rubbish like that, next few years?? What he's just buying himself time? How do you expect to bring good players in when you make comments like that, they're not gonna come to just be on standby going through the motions until 2028, this coaching setup is proving inept on a multitude of levels. "I hope we beat the bye" pffffffffffffffffft

They call him Flipper, Flipper faster than lightning
forming a team in a season it seems.
Yet geriatrics, and lawyers, and flashy ex players
still need ten years to get into gear

Right, so we now have our best forward pack in over ten years (filled with Origin and international representatives) but we’re looking to move up the ladder in next few years when most of those players will be off contract.

Why the hell would they want to stick around when the club (and a select few mentally challenged fans on here) continue to throw there support behind an inept career failure of a halfback.

Sheens made the biggest blunder of the offseason getting rid of Hastings instead of the Brooks and the result speak for themselves.

This is what I don't get, everyone putting the boot in because they know better than a bloke who's won four premierships. It's obvious we have a fairly good team lacking a decent half. The geniuses in here all know that and Sheens knows that. That's why he went hard for Moses and before that Munster, two of the best in the game. It didn't happen. If it did happen, you'd all be calling Sheens the Messiah.
Right now, Brooks is the best half we have, like it or not. That's a terrible situation but there's no point bleating about it over and over every single week because we don't have anything better. And don't bring up Hastings. There's a reason he's not here anymore and he won't be at Newcastle very long either.
Unfortunately, we have to be patient. The timeline given was 2025. It doesn't look like anything is going to change that in a hurry but maybe, just maybe, if a Wakeham or a Dodds or some other miracle worker signs up next week we can all say goodbye to Brooksy and look forward to finals footy. And Sheens will be a genius. Until then....

Doesn't change the fact you shouldn't provide such defeatist comments to the public.

Sheens achievements in the game have little to do with what is happening here and now, and no coach can rest on his past successes if it's not translating in the present.
The message is all wrong to the fans, prospective players, and the ones that are currently playing.
We are currently in the worst run of losses in the clubs history and Sheens has to be held accountable for that since it has happened when he has had control over football matters and his decisions have impacted on our position and continue to.

Sheens is living off 5 golden years that happened almost two decades ago,and subsequently hes been punted from every single job, including us...and for very good reason
But wants to relive that golden days experience with his old buddies in the coaches box one more time..despite their flimsy coaching qualifications
..and has somehow found the most clueless and spineless Board to facilitate that dream
Compare his value-add to WTs to say what Gould is doing at Dogs..or Bennett at Dolphins .its chalk and cheese.Theyre going forward with a plan and making genuine progress,Sheens making excuses (and poor decisions) entrenching WTs at the bottom of the table
If I didnt know better Id think Sheens is a trojan horse planted by Gould & co to guarantee us the spoon in perpetuity, cause hes doing a mighy fine job of it!!!!
Negative statements like his demotivate incumbent players and give them implicit permission to underperform, plus deter potential new recruits.Theres nothing to be gained other than soften media expectations of achievement and accountability..suits him just fine
Hes either senile.... or stupid..or simply seeking another early payout in a hurry to rush home to UK
Quite frankly, the latter wld be money well spent by WTs IMO..and Id install a contemporary and era-relevant coach like DESI OR Flanno asap..tomorrow wld be perferctly fine
Ive seen enuff...and dont need several more years of this mediocrity

Problem is in trying to recruit he's not really selling the joint to any prospective players, we offer them a 3 year deal but BTW the first 12 - 18 months will be crap were not planning on achieving much.

Yep! and we might be winless but to be fair a lot of the games we just fell short could have gone either way...
Look out Manly!
