I think the issue is Sheens

An embarrassing cop out from Sheens..how do we attract quality talent with this defeatist attitude..heck,we've got a near SOO forward pack..to get things going..need to build on it
Cant believe any Board wld buy into this ..
In the business world, you'd punt the old fossil and bring in someone more ambitious..like Flanagan
It appears our current “old boys” and inward thinking mentality is going to eventually strangle us.
With our set up everything is protected and no logical outside assessment is welcome. That applies right throughout the organisation.
What we really need is a neutral third party assesment of where we really are and proposed changes to make us truly viable.
But will that ever happen….. doubtful.

Wests Tigers head coach Tim Sheens is confident the team can bounce back up the ladder in the next few years. 🤣

Sheens will coach for the next two years before handing the role to club legend Benji Marshall, and is excited for the future of the club, even after a winless start to the season.

Press PLAY to hear him list the timeline plus the guidance he’s giving to Benji Marshall
While there may be a lot to get excited about, the club is not bouncing anywhere. It’s more like a slow crawl.
The decision makers at the club have managed to get us to the low point where our massive cap space means nothing to aspiring talented players.
The club is now going into panic mode, after offering overs for players who are getting toward the end of their careers, supposedly to fill the gap while waiting for all these junior superstars to mature, we’re now trying to lure young 20 gamers?
What happened to vigorous application of the forensic recruitment master plan?
The big question is why the change in strategy?
And why is Sheens lowering expectations?
Will Benji be a NRL coach at the end of 2024?

The failings we have had since sheens stepped in are the worst we have had , Dump Madge and throw Noddy under the bus , Select himself as the new coach , Get rid of Hastings , Keep Brooks , list goes on ,can you imagine If He appoint Flanno , Dumped Brooks and run Hastings / Laurie halves , Let Staines play fullback from the start no moving around , and if Bateman didn’t want to play with Hastings Flanno would have got a Backrower no problem , probably from the sharks , Board needs to step up and simply say , No we are not waiting 2/3 years , you have got 4 weeks. 2/4 min , you could bring in Flanno for this years balance and 2 years on top , a Benji sucks it up or piss off

100% Browney!
The club has moved to a point in time where a win is not going to make any difference at all.
I get back to the canary in the mine shaft, Nofa.
Our leading offloader by far and only 3 games played?
I recall many of his offloads were to players in poor positions to do anything but go to ground under a mountain of defence..

The coach as with the CEO and board think they have plenty of time to implement their plans and achieve their goals . However the real adjudicators on performance are the only ones that really matter THE FANS
We are not going to wait 2 years before we start seeing the big turnaround
Weve been waiting 10 years as it is and almost a year since a single bloody win !

Sheens will never admit that he is a fraud and i doubt if the club will remove him because he will be the sacrifice when things go completely pear shape and the embarrassment at the club gets to it's peak.Crap coach backed by an incompetent board and management.
I am 70 years old and i have never had less confidence in my club than i do now.Completely useless idiots

We already wasted 10 years, another 2 won't hurt.
Those two years will cost the club tens of millions of dollars, not to mention some of our marquee players now will be a spent force by then.
EVERY year matters.
Also don’t forget…in another two years time, Sheens would have been here for 4 years total.
Wayne Bennett has proven you can mould a rag tag group together into a competitive NRL squad in 1 off season.

There won’t be a big turnaround mate. The poor culture in the club is becoming more entrenched as each day passes.
Some well intentioned people back in 1999 thought this was a good idea, but we now have the benefit of hindsight. The Cavanagh, Pascoe, Hagipantelis brawl was an example of how the club’s culture is descending. Taking away a Chairman’s membership???
Really???
This is the main game with the club’s administrators???

I didn’t like/support the Elias privatisation attempt, but I now think that’s our only hope for a true change of direction (Dolphins have done ok compared to our established failed setup)

He was a great player but never a good man
His involvement with Balmain Leagues Club led to the disaster that ended in and which you are reminded of every time you drive along Victoria Road
Let Benny do Benny, that’s his true passion, but keep him well away from the Wests Tigers

That's a really good summary of the litany of missteps the club has made since Sheens was handed the reins. Missteps regarding releases, signings and team selections. Missteps regarding coaching structures. Missteps regarding public comments and overall presentation of the Wests Tigers brand. I'll say it again, how the board could could think that an out of touch, old school coach combined with an inexperienced, unstructured rookie could work is totally beyond me. As many have said, the club is rotten from top to bottom and it's impossible to see, at this point, any light at the end of the tunnel. Flanagan (despite his dodgy past) would have been a far better coaching choice but even he would have been hamstrung by the ineptitude of the club's management.

Sheens is gunna milk this cow dry and retire lol’ing at all of us.
Made a tongue in cheek comment aligned with that theory when he appointed himself as coach. Wasn't expecting us to be sitting anywhere near the top - even with the support gang bombarding every concerned post - but wasn't expecting us to be in this position either.

Yep happy for Benny to not be involved, but an alternative private proposal would be attractive

Benji is probably already the coach based on the start,Sheens is just the face .if we named Benji head coach the laughter at the club would be loader that it already is ..As for Flenno he's not interested and at Manly. But if Sheen's didn't return to the club to coach get back behind the scenes and replace yourself with Des (an old magpie) and Benji could learn of him ..get the mad scientist on board

I'm certainly not jumping up and down with joy at the coaching; but I'm also not at the other end of the spectrum either. They made a call on AD and Brooks being able to cut it behind a good pack. That is as clear as the nose on your face - it is also clear that they stuffed that call up big time. Having said that better than 50% of this forum were on the AD band wagon over the off season.

In taking this approach we were able to invest $ into a forward pack that can compete. Frustrating as shit to see how impotent our halves are, but it is what it is. Unless we can jag someone or Wakeham or Laurie come good 100% we will be fighting for the spoon.

At the end of this year we have the opportunity to cast off Brooks, Wakeham, Laurie, Smith, Staines and Talau with no freight and potentially shop Nofa and medically retire AD.

We are clearly going to build off Tupou, Naden and Bula so there is some talent to work from. Despite the doom and gloom painted here players know that we have a decent pack and a couple of rough diamonds coming through. Although I don't expect we will sign a first class backline we can certainly get an upgrade on what we have and be competitive.

2023 is setting the foundation. We now have a decent pack of forward. 2024 will be building towards a real crack in 2025 I think, with good recruiting we have a red hot shot at cracking the eight next year.

Sheens has said some stupid things recently and is copping it for the right reasons. On the other side of the coin, I think he is doing what it required. Taking the heat for the shit state were in while we build.
