Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Winger is more important than centre. Why would we move Tupou from a position he could be a superstar at which is important, to a less important position which doesn't fit his skills as well...
I’d say possibly coz he might be starved outside our “dynamic “ centres.
Like Manu, get him closer to the action so he becomes the start not the finish of a line break.
No one else really looks like making breaks at present.

Just revisited an article written about Jack Gibson when he took over Easts in 1967 after they didn’t win a game in 1966.
He said” I thought if we could get our defence right and eliminate stupid errors, we could be competitive”, and that, along with radical moves like kicking on the first or second tackles then tackling strong, enabled them to reach the semi finals in 67.
Not too elaborate is it, no fancy criss cross plays, just make your tackles, put pressure on the opposition, reduce your unforced errors and take your chances.
Not really rocket science eh.

It is a very simple game at its core, that is often over complicated by over zealous coaching.

For anyone that watches cup and flegg
Of the halves we have in the ranks which ones are a controlling half and what ages are they. From reading on here kade hill sounds like he has it but people seem worried about his size and is 21 now ( read on here so might be wrong) so if he’s not close chances are his opportunity is gone
Large while sounds gifted and might debut young as some predict doesn’t sound like a controlling half
If we don’t get anyone from outside in the interim and if brooks,Wakeham and Laurie don’t resign which one would you promote for next year
We have Conti at age 17. Several years off still

Hill seems to play a smiler style to Kyle Flanagan, but he’s far more slightly built and kicking game not as good.
Large seems to be a very similar style player to Dylan Brown, very strong and fast with some play making skills, but not a natural game controller.
Camroux has all the tools you want to be a good halfback, he’s a good natural onfield talker/communicator, he’s tall, fast, has a strong physique and has a big boot.
Something is not quite clicking with him as he’s not regularly playing anywhere near the best of his ability.
Lack of aggression and lack of confidence seems to be the problem, you would hope a coach will dig deeper into what is holding him back and hopefully get the best out of him.
You must be a relative of his. He's slow, with poor vision and worse execution.

U have hit the nail on the head , I have been saying this for years , sheens says we are in a rebuilding situation, so go out and offer the best up and coming kids in the 1/2s and the best centres , a chance to play 1st grade now offer them a sliding scale of payment over the next 3 years . As u said we can’t buy seasoned players so let’s build them , BUT we need to start today
we actually started when Madge was here, understand people r frustrated with another 5 year plan, godbless cochise n batboy, its a bloody big merry go round and our time will come

Just finished a night out in Darwin, a few of the broncos' boys were out and about. Ran into Billy Walters, seems a top bloke wished the Tigers well for the season and hoped I had a good year as a supporter. Bittersweet as it's yet another player of the majority who have left the tigers and improved greatly. People go on about high profile recruits, but our culture needs a reset desperately. However that may be.
