Luke Brooks #167

That try from Toa had nothing to do with Brooks, he could have received that basic pass from anyone.

Which try ? To'a scored two tries. One off a beautiful out ball and one from a standard pass. I can accept the standard pass could have come from anyone but even that one Brooks is the guy who got it to the right person. So he organized that try - correct or correct ?

There was also a beautiful out ball that he gave to To'a who passed to Staines to score. It was a beautiful pass. Anyone who knows anything about rugby league knows it was a beautiful pass. If you don't agree with this you are basically proving that you have no idea about rugby league.

No one's perfect, iv made thousands of mistakes no doubt Jackson has aswell but from what iv read and heard from him he has matured and learnt and grown from it, now I can only go off what I see I'm not behind closed doors, in all his time with us he always seemed to be down to earth level headed respectful and passionate. Even now at Newcastle he seems to be genuine. Like that incident when we played them in round 2 when he went to Tommy after the game, that wasn't his fault that was on Tommy for not leaving things on the pitch.

Unless someone comes on here who has inside info and proves he is a knob we just have to judge him on his footy ability.

I'm surprised that he is being rated so highly on here though. He didn't win us games last year and apparently any halfback would win us games. I've seen him a bit this year and he hasn't looked very creative either.

I think this is another player who is rated way more highly than he should be because of the forum favorite.

When? We scored three tries, 1 to Staines, 1 to Api, 1 to Toa.

Brooks throwing the ball to Toa who then does all the hard work on his own to score is not “Brooks organising the try” which is exactly why he doesn’t get a try assist for it. Just like Api passing the ball to anyone which ends up in a try isn’t simply “Api organising the try”. Players passing the ball to each other is basic footy, nothing more.

Let's be clear is right.

He may have been involved in some tries but how many has he created that were enough to win the team games? No win in how many games?
I admire your loyalty but it's blind.
Good post .he has had alot chances to create .the last 2 games we had a lot of early ball on the opposition line.created nothing

It sucks right. Just imagine how bad we'd be without our no 1 points creator though. It's why we need a gun halfback to help him out.
How come the “number 1 points creator” isn’t getting the 3 points every week in the forum voting, or polling any Dally M points in our close games when other Tigers players are, or have 20 odd try assist stats to his name? Oh that’s right, he’s not actually creating the points you claim he is or playing anywhere near as well as you claim he is.

Absolutely, great idea.
This has been mentioned previously as an idea and I wonder whether Sheens/Benji would consider this for next season if Brooks is in their plans ...

Luke Brooks as an impact bench utility predominantly a Lock replacement. Given pre-season to build his strength & add a few kg of bulk.

I think his front-on defence in the middle would be fine in 15-20 min bursts, and could be that linkman role and given license to sniff / provide speed around & in behind the ruck.

He could also provide that utility value if Api had to go off and halves cover.

Sheens has always been about innovation so who knows!!!
Worst idea ever heard.

Get rid of him!

You don’t keep a bad omen around and try and “innovate”

What don’t people understand???

10 years - No Finals

Over 1 year - No win

The guy is a depressant in the sheds

Imagine we keep him for a utility and then we get an injury and they put him back in the halves lol

Whilst we have him we aren’t looking for a replacement

Dump and run and thank god that there are no refund policies

Beat me to it. I think Earl imagined one.

Classy. Each to their own and trust that you both enjoy the experience.

Sorry to many, many decent folk on the forum for taking the many steps down to their level with the above, just so disappointing to see even the once cultured join in with them.
Back on topic thanks.

He doesn’t actually provide speed around the ruck though? That reputation is based on games played a decade ago but is sadly a myth today.

I still prefer the ‘fire him into the sun’ plan.

I just hope after we go back to back wooden spoons - some one is held accountable.

We have a really solid pack.
We need to go to market and recruit halves and some centres to really be able to compete.

Brooks' incompetence has been addressed for years on here - time for the club to address it too.
Demps, I agree we have a go forward pack and that is why I am so SO much harsher on Sheens the McGuire at the moment. Sheens should have had us a win and clearly whatever he is thinking isn't working.

Moreover we haven't seen the Sheenus plays. I at least hoped for entertaining manoeuvres.

There is a bigger problem. One Sheens was meant to fix. DEVELOPMENT.
We should have had first grade ready juniors. We should have centres who know their positions and a wing/centre combination. We need a Tackling Coach, WE NEED A TACKLING COACH.

Look a lot of people attack the board, Lee H does need to be answerable for the overs on Nofa. The board basically trusted Sheens over another Rugby League coach to steer the tigers in the right direction. Sheens has had 3 years to guide the side where he wants and he has had a recruitment dream..... Yet we see nothing.

We need to find someone like Brian Canavan or similar to actually guide the football department with their experience at other clubs.

Wonder if Ronaldo cares about the mental health of the fans? Or just his mates being paid a million dollars to completely fail at their day job. Pointing out the guy is a loser is just facts, and we know the saying about facts and feelings.
Bit harsh Winston. I’m all for bashing Brooks on a forum but for a media outlet to literally post something like that is below the belt. The guy is right - you can’t making posts like that and then spruking you care about mental health.

He’s only got 1 try assist to his name for 2023. Simply passing or throwing a ball does not count as a try assist. If Brooks was in fact making all these tries happen, he would be up there on the Dally M points.

He left Salford for Wigan. Then Wigan for us. He chose to leave he wasn't sent packing, even Sheens wanted to keep him but he wanted him as a lock. So really only Roosters and Manly he had issues at, everywhere else were happy to keep him, he left of his own accord.
Even at manly, had he had a proper coach and not Barrett the situation may have been handled better and he may have been able to stay.
Speaking of Manly, how could you not want to punch DCE's lights out. Just looking at him or hearing him crapping on the way he does would be enough to set anyone off.

I reckon going back a few years with DCE's contract, he would have been one of the most disruptive and unsettling influences that almost tore Manly apart.

With a name like Dally Cherry-Evans what the hell is he doing playing in the NRL, he should be a rah-rah boy playing Shit Sheild.

Great player on his day but the guy just shits me and I could understand someone wanting to put one on his chin, so I can't fault Hastings for that one. 🤣 🤣🤣

Let's be very clear. He has been heavily involved in 5 of the past 7 tries we've scored and 2 of those tries have been off the back of Brooksy elite level passing.

Brooksy with the out ball to Kepaoa with the pass to his left.
Brooksy with the out ball to To'a with the pass to his right.

Remember when the delusional mob were trying to state Brooksy killed all our attack. How funny is it that he is creating all our attack now.

You should go and watch the highlights prior to posting because it's almost like you don't watch the game at all. It's almost like you get your ideas like a good sheeple from Twatter or whatever it is you are into.
Your day job doesn't involve sitting under a bridge and demanding tolls from those wanting to cross by any chance? 🤣 🤣 🤣
