That was awesome. One of the things that I don't understand is when people say player x can't organize or they don't talk and I wonder how they know that for a fact and even then how much talk is really required etc. Even when it comes to position that is a lock forward talking a lot. It's just not something that is clear cut about what is right and wrong. It's very subjective.
Yes, Carrigan’s talk obviously has a huge effect on players around him. That much talk over 80min would surely be exhausting? I think the ideal situation is for 3 or 4 central figures to work at it, but not at the same time, so it gives the others confidence in knowing what’s on?
I liked the way he called out Doueihi being in the line, a signal for Haas to run at him and if he didn’t bust the tackle he at least got a quick ptb so 2 passes wide a kick could produce a try or FDO.
All that talk keeps everyone laser focussed and upbeat.

I dont care if your a Brooks fan or not, please dont play the mental health card as an excuse for poor performance...35 years ago I was called a wog, greaser and spic because I played for Turvey Park R,L,F,C in Wagga wagga, I got paid $50 bucks a win and had a 40 hour a week job...these so called NRL heros get paid in the Thousands if not Millions....if you cant handle the heat go get a job out of the public eye,,,this mental health card is only an excuse when things dont go your way especially with the paycheck they collect....sorry for being a little non human, but if your gunna take the money, perform or take the criticism that goes with it ...
With all due respect, there's no need for the rant. Brooks isn't playing the mental health card and the actual Tweet is from Ronaldo Mulitalo.

Hey Jolls...Greg Hawick was my coach to start with,he was hard but fair,he played 5/8 for Aust in 1958,he was a good man...Merve was a good hearted guy and took in a player when he had no accomadation, unfortunately he stabbed Merve to death in an arguement one night, back in the 90s sometime...Brentnall was a very talented footballer he playedLeague with Turvey and also first grade Aussie rules with Turvey as well...I lived and worked at the Tavern from 1980/86...
Good to hear from you Jolls..keep in touch...
Hi TT,

We must have met inadvertently. My original plans were to play for the Kangaroos in town but I met with Merve at the tavern in 86 on a mate of a mate's recommendation. Merve talked me into playing for Turvey Park when I was posted back so I spent a few nights drinking Reschs stubbies on ice in there.

I played in 87 and the start of 88 but was then posted early so missed the end of the season. Played a combination of Hooker, Front and Second Row in Reserve Grade and a few games at Hooker in A Grade. It was pretty hard to unseat the locals as a blow in. I was by far the smallest second row/prop in the entire competition but when the team was short you play where you are needed.

I had a great time when I was there and the club in Greg Brentnalls hands was strong as. Won best forward in Reserve Grade in 87 but no one knew who had won it as not many knew my name. As I went to accept the award all I could hear from the small gathering was Ahhh, it Jolls, you know the bloke that drinks Reschs.

Clearly my exploits at the Tavern were much better known than my exploits on the field.

Very sorry to hear about Merve, I had heard he passed but not of the circumstances. He was an excellent bloke and truly had the club at heart. Spent a couple of nights on Merve's lounge after a big night.

Cheers to Merve and to Turvey Park,
both gone but certainly not forgotten.

We must have crossed paths somewhere mate ..The first season with Turvey I came back from having my tonsils outs and missed 4 games at the start of 80 season,I ended up winning the team managers award for consistency and effort and kept my spot in ressies for the next 5 years, wing and centre,no mean feat when you had about 35 players every week to pick your firsts and reserves from...I come from a small town in the Southern Highlands of NSW,if you had a crowd of 2/300 at the local game on a Sunday it was huge, when I went to Turvey we played the Roos at Wiessel Oval behind the leagues club,it was a local derby,I ran out from under the granstand and the crowd that day was 3500,it blew me away and I was as nervous as hell. The leagues club and oval are gone now apparently...they were great memories....

With all due respect Lauren I didnt claim that Brooks is playing the mental health card,I was more reffering to players such as Moses who played that card to get out of his deal with us....I stated if your on big money and in the public eye you either perform to the big dollars or get out,if you HAVE to play that card then dont get there to start with...I understand that pressure does befall on lots of sports people not just NRL players and some become victims of mental health issues however there are plenty of professional people available for help..

Thanks for clarifying @TrueTiger.

Love what you're advocating at the end btw. Especially with what's happened with Paul Green more recently.

With all due respect, especially towards @Lauren, your post had nothing at all to do with Moses or any player, let alone one trying to get out of a deal, as is clearly shown by your actual words below;

I dont care if your a Brooks fan or not, please dont play the mental health card as an excuse for poor performance...

Wrong again champ...Lauren has already responded in a pm with me and she doesn't have a problem with what I said...she may even read this and respond...Elvis Presley had a song..only fools rush in...

So first we had Sam Walker dropped for a couple of poor performances.... Now another 7 not performing to expectations in Kyle Flanagan has been dropped by Ciraldo at the Dogs
But won’t happen at our place because the coaches are really pleased with LB, and have been for 10 years.
They’ve obviously been looking at his win strike rate over previous years and this one.
Don’t think he’s ever had an early start !

This is a tough one. I get your response in the context of someone who feels that Brooks has been given too many excuses. I've never bought into that line.

Doueihi was excused for his poor form due to injury and Hastings poor record with us just disappears in the wind.

I disagree though with your assessment this season that he has been rubbish. That to me is nutters but it's cool.
Yeah I am a logical enough person to know that he has not been completely rubbish that mantle goes to Douhie.
But his inability to be what he has been paid to be, a 7, under what I see now to be perfect conditions for a 7, from the forwards laying the platform was his last excuse. He just cannot seal the deal, or bring other players into the game, etc on any kind of consistency and not at all at the moment. That the 7’s job. The other thing is that other than learning to tackle one offseason about 8 years ago I don’t see any improvement in his game on fixing his flaws, like the hospital passes. I could fix that for over one offseason with him easily, but no every year he trots out throwing hard when it needs to be soft. The other week I watched him on the last, run out of runners, then run out of ideas, and then just dropped to the ground? His thinking should’ve been kick, but no it was die with the ball? Should’ve been a voluntary tackle penalty. I supported him longer than others but the good pack was his last excuse and my decision that he needs to go is made based on what I have seen and what I expect to get on a consistent basis going forward.
Anyway struggling with today’s meds so I hope that was coherent.

Hope your ok mate...stay strong..God bless...

Bit harsh Winston. I’m all for bashing Brooks on a forum but for a media outlet to literally post something like that is below the belt. The guy is right - you can’t making posts like that and then spruking you care about mental health.
Is it any different to reporting how Greg Norman couldn't win a US Major. It's just a factual bit of info.

Our forwards are good. They dominated against Manly. Our attack remains the worst in the NRL. It surprises me that over the years - loss after loss after loss - the WT never at least experimented with a team without Brooks. It's not as though they could go much worse in attack. I thought halfbacks had the responsibility to organise the attack.

Cant handle the heat, get out of the kitchen, my care factor for Brooks went out the window half a decade ago. The sooner the year long / decade loser leaves the club the better for all parties.

Just read through a few anti Brooksy posts here guys and thinking he has run over everyone’s cat?
Because when I look at the stats on NRL halfbacks it seems we have an ok number 7?
Some of the crap put on here to justify the hatred is just plain wrong.
Check your facts people before joining the Congo line and singing to the tune. 😂
0-7
+
Decade long loser

Guess those stats seem ok huh? Sign him up for another 5 year contract, seems like you'd love that. Id rather you cared if the Tigers won over naming your favourite player for a guaranteed loss week in week out. Each to their own.
