I can’t see them going into next season with Smith & Wakeham. Unless we snag 2 halves can see Brooks running around next season (unless Raiders snap him up).

Yeah, it's a bit of a predicament.

Wakeham and Smith aren't contracted for 2024 either.

I'd love to see;

7 Sezar (32 in June - smart, calm, controlling and organising 7)
6 Taafe - high cieling, big future ahead, seems smart and focused.

The fact that Brooks has been on the open market for 6 months and hasn't had a contract offer from anyone tells you exactly why we shouldn't be offering him another contract

I'm not sure about that, but it'd be nice if it plays out like that.

I get it the feeling some want a clean break from Brooks end of the day we all want the club successful.
I have kind of heard second hand through people that would know Brooks and they seem confident a deal has just about been done as he apparently is keen to stay a one club player.
But again Rumours are rumours I guess so I wouldn't bet my house on it.

Any spine with Brooks in it, much of the same garbage we've seen the past few seasons.

think if Brooks plays a running 6 role he will do well with a sezer or townsend.
Don't rate Taafe at all, he is a good utility that is about it.

I wanted Townsend years ago. This is our guy. It’s slim pickings for us and this guy has had a successful career and can guide a team. Even if we resign Brooks (I hope not), Townsend would take pressure off him.

Taafe is worse than Wakeham. The Chad is not good, last year was an anomaly. May work if you have an absolute star 5/8 outside him.

I think the only option is to offer Ben Hunt the world. Seems to be the only top line half that may be restless at this club.

Have a look at the recent highlights of Cody Hunter the Redcliffe Dolphins Qld Cup halfback.
He looks more of a ball runner and has also played 5/8 and Fullback, but looks a tall, strong, dynamic ball runner in the Nicho Hynes mould.
He also looks to be a very good goal kicker.
Robert Derby a young 20y.o tall and fast winger with a PNG background who is regularly making over 200m per game.
Ethan Quai-Ward a 22y.o centre currently contracted to the Broncos, but currently available for next season. He too is tall, strongly built and based on the trials looks reasonably fast. He is regularly making over 120m per game as a centre.
