On the way to work I was listening to sports radio this morning, they were talking about Fulton and recruitment in general. Which led into Melb Storm recruitment process. Apparently Bellamy has confidence in those employed as talent finders and when prospect talent comes through to him. He doesn’t watch any video reels. Just interviews them and forms and opinion and attitude and desire. I’m not sure how Lomax and Schuster in that interview with the Storm.

Good point.
Maybe better to avoid those with a poor attitude, but you can look at it from another angle. Wayne Bennett has been known to turn the poor attitude of many talented players around.

Easy to do when you’ve got plenty of talent. When you’re trying to scrap the dregs out of a pan with a wooden spoon sometimes you gotta put up with some crappy bits.
I would love it if we could be that choosy. We need to upgrade the roster, we did an amazing job with the forwards in one season but usually it’s a slower process. I think Naden is the classic example of a player that I wouldn’t normally want on the roster but he is good for us coz he’s about the best we can get and better than what we had, and will help us climb the ladder and be a more attractive destination, but he certainly needs to be upgraded in the next year, or by some miracle stop the stupid plays he does and become a better player.

I know the Storm structure very well and Bellamy doesn’t get involved in others roles unless they need his support. He is consulted on roster decisions before they’re finalized and does have communication with players that are being proposed for contract offer.

Doubt we will see him in FG.....his 2023 stats...made 25 tackles, missed 11... 🙂
 
I think we have a competitive team and should be settled now in all positions except
Centers and Halfs
ATM we have Toa seems to be improving each week at right center so let's give it time to see if he can totally lock that spot down
Left center has been a problem most of the year and Naden is our prime candidate but thru injury and suspension doesn't spend enough time there .Talau played one and a bit games at center and appeared a bit tentative then thanks to Jacko missed more games and soon off to Manly . He is a bit of an "iffy " proposition . We need a top center
5/8 at the moment Wakeham is serviceable but not a game breaker and Brooks is a total enigma puts in a few very ordinary performances early in season then puts in a great 2nd half vs Dogs and starts to improve last couple of matches and then puts on one of the truly great halfback performances in terrible conditions against Penrith .
What we need is the halfback to be good everyweek and Brooks is capable but a decade has shown he drifts in and out of form
Maybe if the rest of the team are more constant he will be more constant
Summary at the minimum we need one top class center and one top class playmaker in the half's
Note no comment re the pack ours is as good as any !!

Yep when a manager negotiates an 800k deal for a player it comes with a level of accountability on the part of the player and not just on game day. At this stage he has demonstrated nothing to suggest that he gives rat's about how ridiculously over paid he is for delivering nothing.
He is worth a risk on minimal dollars other wise he can stay Manly's over paid problem.
 
Have been told that there is a very good hooker running around in the local Newcastle rugby league that has caught the eye of at least 4 NRL teams.
His name is Luke Huth, and is playing for Cessnock , and going by what i have heard could be heading to a Sydney club by the end of this year........

Huth has been rated for a good while....
Has always been there or there abouts - Remember Joey mentioning him a few times, I think he was in extended Benchs for the Knights at one point - Or playing pre-seasons.... Just never kicked on.

It's weird they have Buderus involved and have let out the last few Hooker prospects...
They moved on that Starling at the Raiders as well... Weird?

The more I digest it, The more I think it will happen.
Not a fan at all... But what can you do.

Not as out of favour as the bloke that dropped him....
No one is taking on his full contract and I doubt he's taking a pay cut or the dragons are paying him to play somewhere else for 3 years.
