Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The two best options halfback-wise is Walker or Hunt. Opposite sides of the experience spectrum yet upsides to both. HOWEVER, neither is officially off-contract but both are in interesting circumstances...

If we beat the Dragons this week, Hook is gone. And with that, potentially Hunt is available. But that's a slim chance.

Walker is obviously on the outer at the Roosters but is technically contracted so can't talk with other clubs. Would look good in Orange (and black and white of course).

Interesting times.
surely Walker will be heading to Dolphins or Titans?

Did we sign the accountant from the roooters or south’s, because getting them three are going to set u back a large park of ur cap
Lomax would be 500K with dragons chipping in no doubt.

Schuster would be 500K-600K with Manly chipping in.

Hunt it really depends.. but we have large cap waiting that hasn't been spent this year or next yet.

also a fair few people off contract

I have done some research and these are the players reported contract worths.

Off contract 2023
Daine Laurie - 300k
Luke Brooks - 1.1 Mil
Staines - 500k

The 3 suggested
Lomax - 650k
Schuster - 800k
Hunt - 1 mil

I am sure you could say the numbers on our players might be a little off, but the same would apply to Lomax, Schuster and hunt. If any of these teams chipped in then obviously we would potentially be paying around the same total for those 3.
The cap is also rising by 2.5 million.

1. Bula
2. Nofa
3. Lomax
4. To'a/Naden
5. Tupou

6. Schuster
7. Hunt

8. Klem
9. Api
10. Uto
11. Papali'i
12. Blore
13. Bateman

14. Simpkin
15. Joffa
16. Pole
17. Twal

I agree. Maybe Schuster 13 and try and trade joffa. Maybe a 3-2 player swap where we send Joffa, TT, Nofa for Schuster & Saab. So it would look something like

1. Bula
2. Saab
3. Lomax
4. To'a/Naden
5. Tupou

6. ??
7. Hunt

8. Klem
9. Api
10. Uto

13. Schuster

14. Simpkin

17. Matamua

The only 13s worth 800k a year are Murray, Taumalolo and Carrigan. Schuster isn't fit enough to make 30plus tackles a game. If Benji backs himself to make him an elite 6 it's possibly worth a shot, only because there are no 7s available and Brooks and Douehi are incapable of steering the ship.

Agreed. However I think both of those players would favour a move to the Dolphins over any Sydney clubs if they were to move.

Doesn't mean we shouldn't try though.

Sorry but I like joffa think he’s doing a good job , we got other dead wood I would rather see go , just remember u also need backups not just ur top 13

A mid-year swap of Talau and Schuster does seem to make a bit of sense for both parties.
We supposedly have spare cash in the cap this year, and I think Manly are desperate to get another centre to keep Harper out of their 1st grade side.
Our outside backs depth is pretty thin again with Staines and Naden out for multiple weeks, but in saying that the halves depth is even more stretched, if Brooks or Wakeham go down we could be in big trouble.
It's a big risk to the culture, but I think the leadership at the club is in a really good place right now and it's a risk with a big reward. I would do the deal for this year and try and pay a bit of next years money. It's not catastrophic if it doesn't pay off. $800k for a spine player is not ridiculous in today's market.

If talau goes .we r left with kepao, naden ,toa .maybe Reilly as centres .I'd prefer to keep Junior on the wing but it would be good to seem him get a go in centres

I don’t get how more people aren’t excited about our link to Josh Schuster

Seriously the bloke has so much talent it’s scary

Benji Marshall is his idol if your idol is coaching you do everything possible not to let him down

A few years ago a team mate of his died at manly this would have a huge effect on a young bloke like home he needs a fresh start

I would be over the moon if we managed to sign him

The kid has a million dollar talent but a ten cent head...that's the concern

Potentially it could be an amazing signing. Just think we have all been burnt by potential in signings from our past. Just worried about his mental state.

He missed the World Cup to concentrate on getting his body rite for pre season!!

He’s 21 that’s a pretty mature thing to do

He got injured before round 1 then came in for a few games and absolutely killed it then re injures his leg against us now he is getting is body rite again

I really don’t think he’s attitude could be as bad as the media are saying

He needs a fresh start
