Luke Brooks #167

Your view. In 2019 halfbacks would have been as scarce as bacon in Lakemba, and that can drive up the price. Brooks’ sacrifice shouldn’t go unnoticed because it was huge.
If I pay you $600k to do a job for me, and promise to pay you in 4 years time, how much has it cost you?
He has sacrificed nothing by staying at this club other than testing himself elsewhere.
He has always been well paid for his output from a club that most consider pay overs to attract and keep players.

I just read that the dogs have a player about to enter their Playmaker Academy at Bulldogs. Obviously going by Lukes 10 years of consistent crappyness at half, we do not have one of these “Playmaker Academys”.
My question is, can we send him over to the dogs for some intensive playmaker training?

Now that Dogs kid can play. Absolute freak across heaps of sports. Tigers should get him.

I would say he backed his performance from last week up today. Wasn't amazing but ran and kicked well when he needed to... Need a little less of the drop offs and sideways running and should be good

I don't disagree, though Brooks is simply playing to instructions, just as he was when lambasted by some for taking tackles on the last in the corner against Manly a few weeks back.

Not pretty, but he is executing the game plan. Luckily there was a scrum play as part of that today, else we would have lost to the Dragons.

I understand that he is most likely playing to instructions when it comes to the end of sets but what really kills me with him is how indirect he's become over the past couple of seasons when it comes to taking on and engaging the line. Brooks early on in his career was much more direct in his running and took on the line at all times and I think over the past few seasons in a bid to become a more "organising" half he's shelved it and settled for sideways running, drop offs, etc. He needs to simplify his game and go for more runs and engage and take on the line at all times. If he wants to play that organising role it shouldn't be done through sideways running, passive drop offs. Simply watch Nicho Hynes play and you've got it. That bloke takes not one backwards or sideways step, its all just direct crisp passing almost like a conductor. It's a simple game really, just give your outside men early ball and space

Good game by Brooks today. I felt he let us down running the ball on the last tackle the first set after half time. That was a really poor decision and I feel we took a long time to recover from that.

He needs to take the percentage play as much as possible, because the low percentage play will present itself naturally, and that's when he will take advantage. He forced that play after half time and it nearly cost us.

Playing well and talking a lot more, so very happy for him.
