Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

He is against it as he wants Brooks to stay, but seriously we can't just keep waiting on Brooks to come good, if Walker is available he is a huge upgrade on our current 7's

Firstly Brooks is playing well this season. It's nothing to do with waiting for Brooks to come good. That boat has sailed. You are seeing Brooks play well. He has put on some great tries in the attacking zone and he has controlled games. If you are waiting for him to be a marquee player than you are going to be disappointed because in all his time in the NRL he has never been a marquee player and I can't see that changing at any point in his career. There are very few marquee players in the game. If anything I think Brooks is playing well above himself because he has completely outplayed several quality representative halves this season.

Secondly we need two halves.

Can we get better than Walker and Brooks for next season ? Personally I think there is no chance at all of this happening. I don't think we'll get one half better than Brooks.

Walker if we could get him though would have to be about the best option we can get.

I have gone into bat for Brooks alot over the years and yes do think the slamming of him is OTT however he hasn’t been good most the season. He has had yoyo moments all year.

Let’s be real as a half who has the amount of attacking field position he has had (2nd best in the comp & last in conversion %) he just hasn’t delivered this year.

The reality is he is struggling to create chances which is costing us games. Love him or hate him, he just isn’t a half that will win games consistently.

I always liked our chances of landing someone below the radar and a couple of months ago was suggesting we look at Ronald Volkman but tonight he's making his Nrl debut for Warriors vs Dogs . Coach Webster just said he's a very quick distributor of the ball and will take pressure off Shaun Johnson
About to watch see how he goes

Geez I'd love to think we'd have a chance at getting Sam Walker.

If Bunji and Sheens could talk on the same page as the Walker brothers. I think we'd
have one hell of a creative half. Even partnered with brooks, I see brooks improving.

Is there any whispers of us? I don't understand the chooks on this one

Absolute passenger so far

I think Sam’s decision will have a lot of influence from his uncle and father. They both obviously have a different way of looking at the game.

Enter Benji and Sheens.

If they can sell the vision to young walker and the two older walkers I can see us with a good chance of landing him. Benji was always told if he could do it at training he could do in a game.

I think Sam has a more free and expansive style of game that probably doesn’t work at Roosters.
Roosters are really brutal. The players they drop, never seem to recover and stay scarred for life. Kyle Flanagan is one that comes to mind.

Volkman can play but imo seems to be lacking that killer instinct. Is quality but doesnt step up when given his chance and thats a problem. Roosters are very rarely wrong on retention

Shaun Johnson is in near career best form. He's evolved his game
From a young hot head off the cuff to a controlled half who still has the flash but not as fast as he use to be he picks his moments better now

I think the time at Cronulla really helped his game

Johnson is putting on a clinic at the moment.

I can’t imagine the Warriors giving him 2 more years given they’ve invested in Volkman, Metcalf and even Dylan Walker. We’d have to be a chance of getting him.
He’s more controlled and less frantic in his play than what he was previously.
He’d be a great pick up and if he decided to come back to Australia.
I’d say Wests Tigers would be a good chance with Benji’s influence, but I think it’s next to no chance he will leave the Warriors,
