End of season expectation

Some of you guys are talking utter shit. Complete and utter soyboy shit 🤣
If we don’t play finals this year, then this season is a miserable failure.
End. Of. Story.
Not disputing that we still fail when we don't make the finals but a few weeks back just winning a game was looking like a challenge let alone more than one.

No, you're right, anything less than finals is a failure. I believe we recruited well enough to dodge it. Unfortunately we kept underperforming halves and staked our year on them and they haven't done enough to be the difference between a close loss and a win.

I'm being realistic in my expectations though. We won't make the 8 and that's a recruitment/retention failure.
Dont get me wrong. I dont think we'll come within a bulls roar of the 8 but theres no way I am considering anything bar that as a success. We had fortified our pack, deleted deadwood, and got all our injured guys from last year fully fit (thats no longer true but it was). Ive seen people over the past 2 weeks boldly claim that anything over 6 wins will be seen as a successful campaign. Absolute nonsense.

I agree about the halves with one addition...we were so sure that we could attract Munster or Moses here that we clearly ignored our halves, letting two established ones go and just treading water with the other two until such time they had both rejected us and the trials were about to begin. It was only then that one of the geniuses finally woke up and noticed that if Brooks or Doueihi went down, our season was in deep poop. Enter Wakeham! So yes, it will be a recruitment/retention failure.

Winning every week should be a challenge in a comp like this. We have failed this challenge 7 times already. Time to start converting opportunities. Last two weeks are encouraging, but lots more required.

Finals have always been the pass mark in a 16 team comp, with anything better a bonus, even if some teams seemingly have huge advantages before a ball is kicked.

Debatable as to whether 9th is a bare pass with the now 17 teams, though after waiting until round 9 for our first win, even getting up to ninth from this still very low point would be a huge effort, and one worthy of minimal praise.

Despite the occasional lapses, the defence of this WT squad is very much improved, with the scramble starting to resemble that of early 2018 under Cleary. The camaraderie seems to be there, so now we await similar development of our attack.

Goal should be Top 8 as long as mathematically possible, if not possible then it should be to avoid the spoon.

Anything less than Top 8 is a failure, the football admin staff can have their own plans in the backroom but the coaching staff and players need to aim for Top 8 for as long as possible.

My expectations this year were always low as far as where we would finish on the ladder. Any club that has introduced a lot of new faces to their roster have usually struggled year one. I also looked at our backline and spine and thought we were in trouble.

Anyway, taking away from our ladder position there has been plenty of positives and bar one game we have been competitive . So I am reasonably confident the future looks good.

3 games behind equal 3rd and our draw isnt terrible.

Reckon you wanna be 13-10 to guarantee so means we can only drop 3 games.
If your 12-11 going to come down to F/A and not sure we are going to make up the -70.

But theres a chance

Reckon we can finish 10th-12th which is probably a pass mark

Da boyz have finally got some confidence, I reckon we can keep on winning and go on a roll, though Souths will obviously be a tougher test than Mbye's Dragons.

27 rounds.
13 wins plus the 3 byes will likely sneak us into the eight. We have 15 games left and must win 11 of them.
Missing the 8 is never a pass mark.

I think they are talking about this season Tucker. Gotta love your optimism however. Excellent. Wish the players thought like you. It seems most times they play without Soul.

Not trying to be funny, but if anyone can miss the 8, Wests Tigers can.

Assuming that we keep on improving, I still think we have left our run a few rounds too late as we can probably only drop a couple of games between now and the end of the regular season in order to make the 8.

We can blame a lot of it on our terrible start and it becomes an especially big ask if Api misses a couple of games over the Origin period as well.

Would definitely have made a big difference if we had of won a couple of those close games

A big test will be how we go against Canberra at Campbelltown on Friday night and whether Api can back up less than 48 hours after having played Origin 1 in Adelaide, especially if he is required to play big minutes.

We can only squeeze so much out of the guy.
