Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

That would be embarrassing, Lee and Justin are not part of the football department and have no business being involved in any discussions about the squad
Maybe Sheens and Tartak don't see eye to eye .....hopefully there is a logical reason ...probably not ...but maybe lol

Joffa can be a decent 13 until we have Matamua/Faagutu/Laulili ready. Much prefer Pole off the bench.

If the deal for 2024 and beyond is not contingent on him leaving immediately, I see no reason to release him until after the season is done.

Parra are desperate because they have no middles. We should use that to get Sanders.

Scratch that, he's gone.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe says Ofahengaue has always given his best to the club.
“Joe is a very well-liked player and very well respected," said Pascoe.
This is an opportunity that works for both parties.
Justin Pascoe
“We wish Joe and his family all the best with their future, and thank Joe for his efforts over the past two and a half seasons.”

Ofahengaue has played 56 games for Wests Tigers since joining the club in 2021.

Shame we have to let him go but it's probably for the best given we have some good young prospects available to step into our pack.

We can move some money around and front-load some of our contracts now, while also using some of the saved up funds to help bump up & extend deals for guys like Bula, Tupou, Utoikamanu and To'a.

You're under estimating Fonua....
His footwork at the line is better than most at the club.
His ball playing needs work to be a 13 - But he knows that and he's still young...

Did you see the effort he made to get out of the way (And not be an obstruction) on Tupou 2nd try
on the Weekend?
We've had 10+ yr club legends that would have somehow knocked 3 of those defenders over if they were caught in that position.

Fonua is the most likely 13 I see at the club moving forward for the next 2-3 years...
He could be anything - And will cost much less than Schuster.

yeah I'm gutted to see him go but yes, you're right, we must forge ahead and lock up some of our best talent.

Lee H has said this morning that no decision has been made to release Joffa to the eels. I think maybe his performance the other night plus Stef getting selected in the 19 for Origin have led to second thoughts on releasing him.
no .. this is not the case

Just on the Joffa situation "Lee Hagipantelis on Joe Ofahengaue: There were preliminary discussions, but Joe had not been released and he has still not been released."
I wonder if another solution has been found a bit like we did with Rowdy, he's only 27 clearly drives a culture with our Islander contingent maybe we put forward an extra year last year being close to minimum wage but spread the other 2 yrs across those 3 yrs. So will only be 30-31 by the end of that deal and is on a tick over $400 a year over that time.

Coastie…he is gone mate

another load of shit from our clown chairman... why can't this clown keep his mouth shut

%100 agree with you. Have 2 keep juniors too.
We could have probably used him for the rest
of the year and released him from his contract
in '24 (seeing we've already paid for 1/2 his salary
for '23 and could find ourselves short.) His
contract with them may have been contingent
on getting an early release though in which case
we made the right decision moving forward ...
