Sure he is good but the one position we have plenty of depth is backrow. We need halves and wingers not forwards for next year

I dunno. I think we're still short an out and out Lock. Pole is a Prop for mine coming off the bench for impact. A proper Lock would really round out our pack and mean we wouldn't have to have Seyfarth in the 17.

We also are fine for wingers. Tupou and Nofa with Staines is enough. We definitely need halves and a centre though

I think that was the worst performance I can remember of any nrl player ever. Cini’s second game was pretty memorable too. 😕

Worst performance i ever saw was Steve Mavin playing for Souffs in a semi final in the late 80's,his performance was so diabolical he was hooked in the first half(from memory against raiders).As much as i dislike Souffs i actually felt sorry for him because the toothless rabble were giving him absolute crap as he trudged off the field.
He did not even stay for the 2nd half and went to a pub to console his sorrows,the really crazy thing is he was an ok player but he had a shocking game that day

Wigan lock Morgan Smithies signs with Sam Ayoub at Ultra. I understand he is off contract this season & was reportedly highly rated by the Tigers last year. A high intensity defensive workhorse. I wonder!!! Especially with the Bateman link & those rumours pre-season we were keen on a couple more poms.

I like your thinking. Bateman has been the success we knew he would be as he is a professional. It is interesting to read back on the comments of those forum members who did not want him. I noted Smithies is a Yorkshire (Halifax) born player so he will be a tough nut which is exactly the player we need. It is always good to bring a new player with new skills and a different outlook into the squad. I hope he comes to WTs.

Yeah wow. Like it was yesterday 🤪. It’s funny how our brains work and remember certain events. Poor bloke.

I’ve gotta be careful how I express my opinions. Nothing personal with these players. Reaching first grade is still an achievement.

We need a descent lock to really round us out into a too 4 pack, so Pole can come off the bench and Matamua can take the time to develop, as it would happen at the top 4 clubs. Another nrl bench prop would be handy, hopefully James comes on well, and Blore and Kepeoa we need them to develop into nrl standard 2rf/prop and 2rf/centre, plus Simpkin has been good so he gets the last bench spot.

In 2 years time we'll have a plethora of lock options, with Matamua, Laulili'i and Fa'agutu all possible, depends who kicks on first. I reckon, current fitness aside, Ngatikaura could make a good fist of it, and, actually, Jake Simpkin with 5+ kilos on his frame also as a quick, small middle.

For now though, we need a stop-gap solution no doubt.

We don't need a defensive workhorse when we have someone like Twal in the squad. Haven't seen this guy play but he's only 22. He's not huge but if he plays with real mongrel and can have an impact in attack and defence then giving him a chance could work

I never said Pole wasn't streets ahead. I just don't think our side is at its best if at this stage of his career he is starting. And Matamua certainly isn't close to him atm.

If you think after 40 games a player is what he is, good for you. Starford Toa was pretty average for his first 45 and seems to be going alright now.

All the evidence suggests Seyfarth won't and can't! He purely is a NSW Cup player and I cannot believe he has been given another shot.
