Origin 2023

Freddy is shit.
Turbo is shit
TPJ is shit.
Start with Liam Martin and Cam Murray and we win.
Campbell Graham in.
Latrell in.
Turbo got no clean ball from his FB coz it got stopped at Teddy the hog. I remember he passed the ball twice, once coz the pass to him was average and he had to flick it on or drop it, and the other he was in trouble with defenders and gave a dodgey offload. I would have either Edwards or Turbo himself at FB but Freddy doesn’t have the Jatz crackers for it, sack a legend FB and the captain of the team? Then Api to captain and Klemm starts with Hass and stef on the bench. That last bit I had my Tigers glasses on.

No bitching? TPJ and Paulo were both bolters with minimal support. Hynes as 14?
Belted them in defence - 10 minutes to go it is 2 points in it. As I described earlier Qld took their chances off poor discipline early. Nothing about belting defence in it. Also not sure when the arm of the player in control of the ball wasn't considered to be part of the ball. The decision to not allow the Frizz try was a 50/50 that benefitted Qld. A key moment in the game.
As I very well described before, the Qld spirit had some effect, but it came down to some very poor NSW decisions: TPJ selection and then brain farts, selection and use of Hynes and Hynes brain fart that put Qld in front; selection of an out of form Turbo.
Don't get me wrong Qld played well - but don't give me some bullshit that Qld made some super effort. NSW kept them in the game by making stupid decisions. The right thing to do with 10 minutes to go and a 2 point lead was play strong up the middle, kick to the corners (40/20 would be nice), play a straight line in defence.
What did NSW do?
Panic in defence.
Munster's try was pure Collins effort - I will give you that; but please don't try to sell that it means more to be a Qlder!
Kid yourself all you want.
That is simply rubbish.
Lol you have taken this quite hard.
The superior NSW backline was nullified through consistent swarming defence and beaten by clever ballplaying and speed.
The huge NSW forward pack was contained and eventually beaten by a workhorse pack who never gave up despite having their plans thrown into disarray through injury and the worst sin binning in the code’s history.
NSW were gifted more than their fair share of cheap territory through handling errors and penalties yet could only score the 1 legitimate try through organised ballplaying.
QLD ran harder, tackled harder and kicked further. They didn’t panic and they kept attacking the NSW edges. Slater outcoached Fittler, whose only plan was to bomb our inexperienced back 3. The grit of the boys to push on under fatigue and run away with the win despite many of them playing out of position was also commendable.
It was a very good win under the circumstances.

Never has been

Just an egotistical idiot who loves seeing his name and face up in lights

Picks favorites

Should've been sacked years ago

Tonight should be his last game

I will get bagged for this but hell give Toovey the job

Or Shane Flanagan

Or beg Gould to come back

Just piss Fittler of

He thinks he gets it but really and honestly he had no clue or respect

And what really makes our job so much harder is that Billy Slater is the QLD coach

A truly respected legend of the game that will continue the maroons dominance in the origin arena for years to come
I agree Toovey or Hasler

As a person who lived most of his life in NSW I can tell you that it really does mean more to be a Queenslander.
2011 Brisbane floods and thousands of Queenslanders, without prompting spontaneously turn up in the flooded areas to help. The "mud army", that's what being a Queenslander means.
You'll never get it until you live here.

It’s true and still surprises me that QLD squads seem to find a way to get it done.
When NSW win, it’s rarely a gutsy victory…usually too clinical and classy and they blow us off the field. Over the past 4 or 5 years, some real under dog QLD teams have won games against the grain through pure guts and will power.
I thought the blues would finish stronger last night. All the stats at halftime said QLD were done. They’d saved 2 tries but let one in that was ringing alarm bells. They put a brave first 40 in but weight of possession would see them leak more points in the second 40. To win the second half 16-12 under adversity was surprising and awesome.

I'm not at all concerned about the loss.

We were outcoached without a doubt.
Outplayed sure.

I'm not saying it wasn't a commendable effort and I am not saying that Qld didn't make the most of the opportunities.

I am saying that the Qlder courage and they wanted it more story is BS. They were gifted opportunities by ill discipline, and brain farts by individuals in the NSW team (TPJ/Hynes).

You have jumped on the media narrative with the rest of the state. I don't buy any of it.

We never hear that type of BS when NSW has a win - the whole of Qld goes silent on the courage and jersey story.

I lived in Qld long enough to see through the crap.

Some selection considerations for Freddy and co.

Teddy for Edwards
Mitchell and Graham for Turbo and Crighton
Hynes or Luai - can't have both
TPJ for any NSW prop with 1/2 a brain
Cook and Api

Qlders aren't super men with superior pride in the jumper and state. They had a good day, NSW had a shocker. The dynasty was simply a superior team now it's more about how the 50/50 calls go and pivotal moments.

What if TPJ didn't have a brain fart in attack?
What if the Hynes up and in snuffed out the play?
What if the bunker awarded the Frizz try?
Collins effort for the last try was great, but still an opportunity try

Let's see what the story is in three weeks.

Bring on the Faders

100%. We employ the old school “do to others as you’d have them do to you”.
Living up here means sooner or later Mother Nature will smack you in the chops. Knowing you have a community behind you helps get over these instances and back on your feet.
I’m sure this happens in other states as well, we just have to do it more regularly.

Nathan’s tooth that let us down. Liam Martin was good. Teddy and our outside backs were outplayed by Qld’s outside backs.

Lived there plenty mate, and all over the country and a couple of other countries. I have personally done a fair bit of disaster relief work and seen the sort of community spirit you describe in plenty of cases. Not something Qlders have over any other state.

I get it though - NSW only ever win based on luck or simply being better players.
